  • The Skinny
The Youghiogheny River Trail runs parallel to the Yough River, with southern section trailheads in Confluence, Ohiopyle and Connellsville. Northern section trailheads are in McKeesport, Boston, West Newton, Cedar Creek Park, Smithton, Dawson and Connellsville. Bike rentals are available in Connellsville and at Ohiopyle. The southern section is considered one of the best walking trails in the world. The serene and densely wooded trail has super-high bridges that lend themselves to a bird's-eye view of the surrounding area. The southern section in particular never gets that steep and could even be attempted by a novice.

    Get There
Connellsville is about one hour from Pittsburgh, and is a delightful experience in autumn when foliage is at its peak. Be sure to stop at Ohiopyle to see the falls before heading on to Confluence. You might even spot a snake or two along the way.
