Best

Wow, I have had a truly different experience from the past 2 reviewers!! I have been going to this studio since September. Before I began I had NEVER taken a vinyasa style class...

Worst

The owner is a nasty woman, she is rude to customers. No thank you. The teachers are all very uninspiring. The whole studio reeks of averageness. Not recommended

An oasis in Brooklyn 10/5/2007

I'm a serious commitmentphobe with an apparent aversion to planning my day. I tend to do things if I ""feel like it"" and will give myself an easy out if I don't. What's changed this? Tara Glazier's Anusara class at Yoga People in Brooklyn Heights. Her class inspired me to buy a class card (a 3 month one to boot!) and I have been incorporating her class into my routine ever since. I had never heard of Anusara before taking her class.--it's described as a ""heart opening"" form of yoga but it's also physically demanding. Class always starts with a spiritual message and a theme that we carry throughout the class. Tara is incredibly knowledgeable about how the body works and creates a atmosphere comfortable for learning.\r \r I've taken other classes there, too. Rachel F. really creates a warm and welcoming environment. Andre takes you to another world--his experience really shows. A couple of years ago, I took this amazing 4-week Intro to Ashtagna class there. Even though I had done some Ashtanga before, I learned techniques in that class that I still incorporate into my practice today.\r \r One added bonus--there's a health food store on the same block. So after your body is good to you in class, you can conveniently replenish it with wholesome food. more

Wide variety of classes 10/3/2007

This studio has a homey vibe and the teachers are fantastic. Check out Rachel's Vinyasa classes on Wednesday night and Saturday afternoon. Tara's Friday night and Sunday morning Anusara classes are fantastic as well. They've also got a full roster of Basic and Prenatal classes and even a Sunday afternoon Meditation class! more

Great people, great yoga, many styles and levels available. 10/2/2007

When I moved to DUMBO one year ago I was affraid that I wouldn't find a yoga studio comparable to the ones I used in Manhattan. Then I found this jewel called Yoga People and I have been in nirvana ever since. It is the best yoga studio I've been to in my 10+ years of practicing yoga. Great teachers, great ambiance, and a real spiritual community feeling.. more

great classes, mellow vibe 9/30/2007

My wife and i have been taking classes at Yoga People in Brooklyn Heights for the last 7 years. Back in 2000, I couldn't touch my toes and had stress headaches almost daily. Now yoga is an integral part of my life, and I practice exclusively at Yoga People. I've taken classes at other yoga studios, but there's a warm, intimate, unpretentious feel to YP that suits me perfectly. Pros: Small classes, excellent teachers who really care. Near all subways Cons: Classes can be crowded occasionally more

Best Massage Ever! 6/1/2007

I got the absolute BEST massage ever at Yoga People! Regine, the masseuse there, made me brand new. I went to her twice during the last few weeks of my pregnancy and I have never felt so good. I was feeling like an 80 year-old woman before I went to see her the first time. My hips, butt and low back were killing me not to mention my big 'ole swollen feet (all from the pregnancy of course) I could barely walk without pain. After one session I was floating outta there and by the second time I was butter. \r I treated my husband to a massage with Regine and he's hooked now - I'll be back to her as soon as possible for post-partum massage, I'm in need bad and I can't wait! Pros: Best massage, Convenient location more
