Out of all the Vietnamese restaurants in Portland, this is the only surviving one that serves lots of traditional dishes, dishes you could find in Vietnam. (Not all the food in Vietnam is Pho lol).
Menu: Extensive. Tons of great dishes, some more exotic than others. Menu isn't your typical Pho, Bun Bo Hue, Rice plate etc. The restaurant has dishes that are very time consuming to cook/prepare thus none of the other restaurants want to make it.
Service: Very friendly. We had some Shirley Temple delivered to us on the house. How's that for service? Never caught our waiter's name but he was very attentive and was genuinely enthusiastic about the food he served us. He took the time to check on us several times and make sure we had enough water and tea.
Food: Delicious. We had pepper salted calamari and fried fish with ginger sauce. The calamari had a very nice aroma to it. It was fried perfectly, taste was fantastic though. It had sautéed onions and my gf and I don't usually eat the onions at other places but this one looked and smelled so good we actually ate it after we cleaned the dish of all the calamari. The fried fish was great. It had a choice of two type of sauce, one was the ginger fish sauce and I forgot what the other one was. Nice and crispy with a great presentation on a bed of lettuce leaves and garnished with tomatoes and cucumbers.
We would definitely eat here more often if it wasn't for such a long drive for us. Great little restaurant on Sandy, great service, and great food. We'll be back for seconds on the calamari =)
Pros: Best pepper salted calamari
Cons: Wish it was closer to clackamas
