Unless you like OLD & OUT OF DATE, don't stay here! 9/30/2010

We were visiting Maine from NY and decided to ""splurge"" on a nice hotel room. We don't stay in hotels often so a $200 room was ok. I made the reservation online. Cost was $179 per night + taxes. Totaled $192.50 a night. We stood there for at least 15 mins while the worker answered phones. There was only a single woman taking care of everything, The phones rang constantly. She kept putting people on hold. It was almost comical listening to her talking to the potential customers on the phone. ""ma'am, I realize you've been on hold for 10 mins but I have 3 other calls before you and customers standing in line in front of me."" Then, the lady on the other end of the phone hangs up and the worker makes a nasty remark about her and hangs up herself We finally got our room keys and went up to room 811 on the 8th floor. The moment we walked in we realized the room probably hadn't been updated in at least a decade and probably much longer than that. The carpets and drapes are old and worn. The TV isn't a flat screen. It's a behemoth from the early 1990's I'd guess. The toilet has to be original to the hotel. It's tiny, old & not ADA height. The seat was so worn that the white around the edges was worn off from so many buttocks sitting on it over the decades. Truth be told, my tally-whacker kept touching the inside of the bowl while I was sitting. I don't have a particularly large ""unit"" either! While sitting on this tiny old toilet, holding my ""junk"" away from the inside of the bowl, I started to look around and notice how grungy and neglected the bathroom was. Grunge in the corners of the where tub enclosure meets the walls and floors, Old cracked tiles. The holes from a previous shower curtain rod were drilled in the tiles of the shower enclosure. When they installed a new shower curtain rod, instead of filling the holes or installing new tiles... they just left the holes where the old rod was attached! The mattress was so old and worn that there was metal protruding on the edge. I hopped into bed and hurt my leg on the exposed metal. I was appalled. The next day, I lifted up the sheets and saw the metal (see pics I attached above). I couldn't find a date on the mattress but I did see a date on the box spring tag... 1998! Yup, the box spring was almost 13 years old! The mattress was at least that old and probably older. The windows were so filthy that you could hardly see out of them. See the pics I posted above. The elevators were tiny and creaky. I wondered if we'd even make it out of them without getting stuck. The street/traffic noise was constant. The 30+ year old windows did little to keep the noise out. We only stayed 1 night and will never stay here again. Wyndham should be ashamed to have their name on this old decrepit hotel. ___________________________________________________ EDIT: While checking my online debit card transactions today I noticed that Priceline has a pending charge of $192.60 and the Wyndham Hotel has a pending charge of $220.34!!! I called the hotel today to find out why they charged me $220.34. While on hold, waiting for customer service... the on-hold advertisement was touting the hotels ""219 newly renovated"" rooms. LOL! When the CSR finally answered, I asked her about these 219 newly renovated rooms and she said ""Yes, we have 219 rooms that have all been renovated within the last 1.5 years. I chuckled and mentioned all the deficiencies of our room (#811). She didn't know what to say. more
