Contacted this company in January 2012 to be one of the bidders for a major home remodeling project. His bid was accepted on January 15, 2012. Contractor failed repeatedly to submit necessary forms to HUD Services in a timely fashion, however I gave him the benefit of the doubt as I wanted to be a good neighbor and help 'local business' in this poor economy. Pre-construction meeting and contracts were signed on April 3, 2012. After that--nothing. No material delivery; no dumpster for demo, no scaffolding and more importantly no contractor on site. Was difficult to reach this contractor or have him return my communications. When I did reach the contractor, he gave several excuses for the delays (weather, other project delay, waiting for the building permit). Finally, two months passed and still nothing. Project was to be completed July 3, 2012 or the contractor would face a daily fine until completion. On June 25, 2012, I was informed by email from the contractor that he had no idea when he was going to start my project because he had a bigger project of 20 homes and guarantee of 3 years of work. I'm the fool for approving the local contractor and had two bids from reputable firms from outside my community that I turned down.
If you decide to hire Wiskerchen Construction--a word to the wise--make him sign a binding contract with clear start and end dates and stick in a clause for hefty fines or something else that will make him show up at your house and get the job done. I cannot locate on the state website any place that indicates Wiskerchen Construction has a valid contractor's license; the form was requested from him back in March, 2012 and as of June 25, 2012 he had not produced this form (forgetful or deceptful?). I wish I could give Wiskerchen Construction a negative star since I feel I am doing a deservice to all those consumers out there who may think he provides a quality product in a timely fashion. I have no product and this company has not provided any service.
