A novelty once if passing through 9/11/2011

Fun once. The Colorado wine tasting offerings are okay table wine, the food is diner quality, the service is slow, the seating is pretty, very affordable, plenty of parking. Why this is fun to do at least once - The tasting is free, no markup to buy a bottle with your meal, they were out of the buffalo lasagna by 7pm, the spaghetti and fried fish were fine and only $13. The large inside and creekside seating is hidden from the highway, and plenty of parking. It's not a culinary (or Napa) sensation, but it's fun once for the novelty. more

Wine's of Colorado....Not Food of Colorado 4/27/2009

The food is definatly not their strong point....nasty is the only word that comes to mind. I had the French Onion Soup and it was horrible. It was shredded mozz cheese and was not broiled it was just added to the soup. If you've ever had FOS it's made with swiss cheese melted over a piece of french bread w/ the soup underneath. As my side I ordered chips thinking they made their own chips just like every other place in Colorado, however they came witha 25 cent bag of kettle chips. I can only laugh at how bad our lunch was......the only thing I ended up eating was the bag of chips, they were great!! Pros: nice creek.... Cons: couldn't sit by the window, nasty food, horrible service more

Horrible 4/27/2009

The food was terrible. The server was much more interested in rolling silverware than providing service. Pros: Location Cons: Food more

Huge disappointment! 8/24/2008

Celebrating our wedding anniversary in Cripple Creek, Wines of Colorado sounded like the perfect way to top off the weekend on our way home. We have never been so disappointed. We arrived around 11:30 to find our host absolutely inhospitable. His demeanor made the ""wine tasting"" sour! We left the shop without experiencing the restaurant because we truly felt customers were not appreciated or welcomed. This COULD be a terrific place if the staff learned to welcome and cater to their customers. more

Great good weather Lunch/Dinner spot - maybe HIGHLY Recommended 5/29/2008

Just had work lunch here. The weather was nice, so my party of 5 was able to sit outside - great! The outdoor seating is shaded and far enough away from Hgh 24 (didn't hear cars, only the nearby creak and the wind though the trees) to provide a comfortable, subtle ""picnic"" atmosphere. On the entrance level, there are wines to taste and buy. I did not partake in the tasting, but the specfic Colorado made selection appeared adaquate (there was chards, merlot, viogniers, pinots... etc.) and turns out to be a posible destination in itself. Something different from your typical wine section in the liquor store. Now, if I wasn't sitting outside, I'm not sure I'd be 100% happy with the indoor seating - it's almost an afterthough between the main entrance and the store entrance. Pros: Atmosphere, burger mix, niche market Cons: Indoor seating arrangement, location more
