Unlike most of the reviewers here, I didn't even make it through the front door. I called the Windsor Inn tonight to find out the price of 1/2 dozen crabs for carry-out. The lady who answered the phone was extremely rude. She yelled at me on the phone and told me that the dollar crab special did not apply to carry-out- which I already knew...and that wasn't even my question. I just wanted to know how much it would cost to buy 1/2 dozen carry-out crabs. I wanted to try out the Windsor Inn because it is near my home, but after being screamed at on the phone by that nut-case, this place will never see a dime of my money. Furthermore, I suspect that the positive reviews on here were written by the management team of Windsor Inn. I've read many accounts about violent fights etc breaking out at this place. more

My BFF invited me to cme join her & a friend for dinner. I knew it was gnna be a bad night when i was charged $5 to enter. I explained to the guy im here for dinner and still hve to pay to enter! Dude continued to stare at the game. Im like ""Oh Boy""! It was a nice crowd of people eating crabs watching the game and also it was karoke going on. Another guy joined us late I didnt knw him he was one of their friends We had a table & was enjoying the place for the moment the dj came on everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We spent a lot of money on food & drinks. My friend and her date were leaving but the guy who joined us late wasnt ready to go so i sd ill hang around snce he didint knw anyone & it appeared he was enjoying the music & drinks. It seemd safe, security had on identifiable shirts tht read ""SECURITY"" When it was time to go we noticed the people were proceeding to leave thru the front door, We stood at the bar for a moment while he fin his drink then we proceeded to walk to the front door. We were instantly stopped by a buff & swole guy who aggressively said "" YALL NEED TO GO OUT THAT DOOR"" wch was the side door, Mind you I had seen that guy thru out the eve dancing w-women & drinking didnt think he wrked ther he appeared to b a patron. So Dude asked why the side door when every one else is going thru the front. Buff&Swole sd, jst do wht i say. Im standing there & i see Him lean his head towards Buff&swole as if he was listening. All of a sudden Buff&swole 3 pcd him and knocked him dwn on the floor! I yelld "" why did u hit hit him""? Buff&swole replied ""F*#k you Bi#*h. I was so upset beyond belief! So me & a guy helped him up he said im ok. I wasnt ok w-wht had happened! We ended up going out the front door any way after all that! Who wants to go to an establishment, spend your hard earned money, & end up being verbally & physically abused by a drunk undercover security? So when u visit the Windsor Inn not only do u hve to worry abt the patrons possibably harming you, watch out for the STAFF! more

I absolutely think Windsor Inn serves the best crabcakes in Bmore in terms of size and price. I prefer my cakes to be broiled well-done in lieu of the fried version. Ummmm ummm good Pros: Crabcakes Cons: venue needs to be updated and display life to patrons more

She makes our visit a good one. We like it there, usually on Sundays. Not bad. But I didn't like the crab cakes too bready. Love the cream of crab soup. more

Hadn't been here for a few years so decided to give them a try for steamed crabs. It was a very disappointing experience from the atmosphere to the service to the quality of food. Went on a Friday evening and found it to be quite a rough, young drunken crowd. Very intimidating. Extremely noisy and hard to enjoy our dining experience. We ordered wings and steamed crabs. Both were a big disappointment. The wings were small and dry. Seemed like they were left overs. The crabs were undercooked and small and mushy. We ordered extra large but got what seemed to be mediums. We had to send them back twice. The attitude of the server and management was very poor. We left just in time as a big fight was breaking out in the bar area. We will not go back. Cons: food and service more

My parents and I decided to go to Windsor Inn last night for dinner, we've been there before, been goin there for YEARS!!!! But we should have just changed our minds and went home. When we got there we were seated by the hostess, fine, no problem. 5mins, 10mins, 20mins go by, no server!!!!! Ask one server if she can find out who's suppose to have our table, her response, ""Not my table!"" and walked away. So, my dad, asked the hostess if she could find out who has our table, she goes back in the kitchen, then comes back out with a pen and pad to take our order and states that OUR server was busy waiting other tables. We shrugged it off and ordered anyway.... Pros: Good Food Cons: Poor Service more

I Just Recently turned 21, so im experiencing the outside world..i went to the windsor inn Tues-03/10/09 W/ my BFF went & had a DARN good time it was an older crowed n i guess spades night..the food was delicious n the drinks was on point..i had fun & waaaaaaay to many Drinks but hey i learned my lesson n had a gr8 time Pros: Older Crowed r nice Cons: None that i can think of! more

I go for Happy hour about every other Wednesday, I really enjoy the atmosphere, the food is delicious for a great price and the drink special are off the hook. My favorite dish is the broiled scallops, they are so tender and the calamari is great also. I have not had any bad experiences here as of yet and would recommend this place to any one, young and old. Pros: You get your money's worth Cons: The parking could be better more

I had the worst experience at the Carry-Out Department of the Windsor Inn. I will never, ever use their take out service again. I've always gone into the restaurant to be seated, and the food was always great for the price you pay. This day, I'm at work, and I'm feeling like some fried catfish, baked potato and salad from the Windsor Inn. Well, I will never do that again. The menu at the take out is totally different from the restaurant. The fried flounder I ordered was fried so hard, it was black on the top and I could hardly bite into it, it was so tough. The baked potato was boiled and I was given 3 little tiny half teaspoons of butter and a small amount of sour cream to put on it. The salad was so watery that it wet completely through the brown bag they put my food in and even after that, it was still so watery that the dressing I put on it did not give it any flavor at all. It was a total waste of my time, my gas and my money. I won't be doing that again! more

With regard to the previous post.. This is an excellent restaurant that has served it's comunity and my family well for decades. Anyone can have a bad experience anywhere and this older, somewhat dated restaurant is no exception. However, if you like crabcakes and seafood at reasonable prices that generally include a decent, but by no means exotic, salad bar, bread station, a choice of two soups (including their very nice vegtable/crab soup) and ice cream (all included on the bar).. well, this establishment is unrivaled in value! I visited the Windsor Inn Crab House for a fellowship dinner with my Single Adult Women Bible Study class. All was going well until one of my Sisters pulled out a black hair from her crabcake. When she brought it to the waitress' attention and asked for the manager, they both returned to our table. The manager came out and the Sister very calmly told her what happened and how she was enjoying her meal until finding the hair. The manager said ""so what do you want me to do about it"" in a very nasty manner. Then she said there was no proof that it was a hair from the crabcake because there was no food attached to it. The hair was long and black, the Sister's hair was very short and red in color. The manager then said it looked like a thread (like that made it any better) and looked at the Sister's outfit which was black with no loose threads. The rest of us saw her remove the hair from the crabcake and told this to the manager. The manager then said with an attitude that she didn't have to pay for the dinner. We will not go there again. The salad bar was poor, some of the dishes on the salad bar needed to be washed again and the manager had a bad attitude. Pros: Decent prices Cons: That nasty manager more
