Great chili reminds me of tommy's 2/5/2010

I stumbled across Willies 5 years ago and been going there every since. By chance the owner was there got to talking and noticed his sign about Tommy's. Had a chili burger it reminded me of Tommy's in LA 32 years ago!! Except for one thing at Tommy's there are no fry's just chips. They even have Tommy's chili pepper! Better than a canned jalapeno! I never new that Tommy's secret ingredient is carrots???? Who would have ever guessed!! Pros: Great chilli Cons: Drinks more

Too expensive, bad fries, over priced drinks 2/13/2009

VERY bad prices .place is not worth it. Fries are horrible. DO NOT eat here, drinks too much. Plcae is packed( I dont know why) bad selection, greasy are very plain food Pros: nothing Cons: WORST CHILLI CHEESE FRIES more

There n back again #2 Wow had 2 make a another willies review. This place always a Sacromento clasic 7/13/2008

There n back again #2 Wow had 2 make another willies review. This place always a Sacromento clasic has just gotten better since my last visit in 2006. The chili is still fantastic and now served at a hotter temp. The burgers and hotdogs are greatly improved. All hotdogs are steamed n have that essential snap that a great chillidog requires. The hotdog buns either steamed or grilled were a perfect match to an impecable chili experance, easily a match 4 pinks, or tommy's, in Los Angeles. The tomatoes, and pickles, were crisp and yummy. A great taste contrast on the chili burgers, all in all well worth the trip. Also the best darn fries n onion rings. When in Sacromento dont miss out. Plus they had an extensive breakfast menu. (i havent had the chance 2 try yet but it looked incredable 4 a chilli joint:) n hey the employees really cared. Pros: hot tasty tangy chili Cons: not in my home town more

Watch What You Eat 11/13/2007

I was disappointed in Willie's Burgers yesterday, due to the fact that their burger was cold and messy. Also, case and final point as I watched the lady take the fries out of the fry bin and put them back into the fryer to reheat them. How gross is it eating over saturated doubled dipped fries. On top of that she wiped them (the fries) with with a so-called towel to absorb the oil. Who knows where the towel has been. Make new fries for crying out loud. Knowing such I did not eat the fries and took and bite out of the burger and chucked the rest. What a waste for a students hard earned money. I think In-n-Out would have been a better choice. Bye-Bye Willie's. (Fair Oaks & Arden) more

Great Burgers 10/18/2007

If you like Burgers and really who doesn't, this is a place in town worth checking out. Get your burger any way you like it and add chili if thats your thing. They also have good breakfast! Pros: Parking, Price & Taste more

Great Burger, Great Fries, 7/28/2007

You will have to try it, you may not be impressed when you walk in but as soon as you taste the food you'll be hooked. This is a weekly stop me and my niece, we talk about going somewhere else but the quality of food always has us ending up at Willies. Burgers are made to order don't be fooled by the menu they will fix your burger any way you like, add bacon or pastrami, bun orr no bun!!! yours to create. French fries are great, you'll always want more when you're done,I like the seasoned salt my niece likes them without. Chili is excellent have it by itself or on burger or fries.. more

place for late night grub 4/2/2007

The hours are great considering the neighborhood. Onion rings, hamburgers are tasty, they surprisingly offer a no frills breakfast. I probably wouldn't make the effort to come here if there were other non fast food options available Pros: great hours more

Best Burgers in town! 11/4/2006

Ahh, Willie's- great burgers, fresh fries, cold soda, and a nice environment. That is all that needs to be said about the place. I would highly recommend that you go and try it. Pros: Everything Cons: not enough parking spaces ay busy times... more

Way past good... 7/12/2006

This places is wonderful! I first discovered the deliciousness that is Willie's after a mock trial competition my Sophomore year of High School, when we went to grab some burgers after a late night. After that I was in love with the Slammer, and later Hammer 3, and I love nothing more than to wash it down with a large Cola. My one, miniscule complaint about the joint is that you feel kinda like a slob if you drop anything on the table, which is a feat in itself with the Slammer, but it's so worth it. On a parting note, make sure that if you get fries, you ask for them to be seasoned in Garlic Onion seasoning, which amplifyies an already great burger experience. Definitely recommended. more

great chlil very close 2 pinks in L.A 6/26/2006

There n back again, or my trip to willie's chiliburgers\r I had heard that there was a hamburger joint in Sacramento faithfully reproducing a pinks or Tommy's chili experience. There almost is . The chili is a near knockoff of pinks chili which is great, but the hot dog n burger experience is off the mark. The staff is using microwaves to heat the hot dogs, burgers, n chili. The chili is a little to thick, needs less flour. Needs to be served hotter ""not more spicy"" hotter temp. The tomato's are pre-sliced. Way to many at a time n then microwaved with the burger, n chili. Makes for a soggy tomato which ruins an otherwise perfect combo of cold crisp, pickles, and tomato's which is mixed with an awesome but way to cold n thick chili. In summation lose the microwaves get steamers for the hot dogs n buns. thin the chili out n serve lots hotter n do not pre-slice your tomatoes to the point where they lose that crisp crunchy contrast that makes a Tommy's burger what it is. Meanwhile you have success within your grasp. A few changes n you could have it. The chili is really very good. I appreciate what is trying to be done here. Pros: chili is close to pinks in L.A Cons: its 2 cold n thick. Lose the microwave more

Benn going for year 7/10/2005

I read the other reviews and being a local of Sacramento I must tell you I have been going to get hamburgers here for years since I was 14 in fact and I always take people who have never had the joy of this great timeless place. Everyone I have ever taken has said it was one of the best old fastion burger places they have been to specialy the older ones who remember the way a burger use to be made. If you want to step back into the 50's and tast the way good burgers frys and milk shakes where made then this is place to go. Quality without the high price just the way it always was and the way they have kept there famous and oh so yummy hamburgers. more

yuk! 1/6/2005

i tried the chili burger, gross, it was like a old burger and slopped on chili beans. i took 2 bites and did not eat the rest. i'll never go back. the milkshake was the only thing good. more

Chiliburger 10/25/2002

They have a fairly good knockoff of a ""Tommy Burger"" (If you are from L.A. you know what I'm talking about. My only gripe is unlike Tommy's which is always excellent, it can be hit-or-miss here at Willies, sometimes you get a great burger, sometimes less. The folsom location seems better (and with Sudwerk's on tap, it's worth the trip). Pros: Chili Burger!, Inexpensive Cons: Inconsistant Quality more

Good grease!! 10/3/2002

Gorged myself on the best hamberger that I have had in a while--the Hammer 2 with pastrami and bacon and shared the onion rings, which were to die for with two other people. I can only afford to splurge on the calorie overload once a month. Pros: Inexpensive, good menu, fast preparation Cons: Crowded, Order line long more
