That great deal on a Moeck Tenor Recorder ""Short-hand"" reach is too good to be true. What they fail to tell you is that there is a scratch on the bore of the headjoint and that the pads do not seat correctly on the instrument leaving it leaking like a sieve. Being a professional oboe player I know how to test pad seating and know that ANY fault or change in the bore (interior dimensions) of the instrument will change the articulation, pitch, and color of an instrument - in other words, the bore must be perfect in order for the instrument to function the way it is supposed to. I was told by Allen, repairman, that perhaps I need to press harder on the keys or I expected too much out of a recorder. When I confronted Richard, my sales agent, asking if they were selling second-quality instruments he quickly excused himself from our phone conversation promising a return call which never came. They have kept the instrument that I do not want and will not issue a refund. Two thumbs down.
