we booked several cabins for a wedding weekend and LOVED everything about the place ! Breathtaking views, charming cabins, and the staff bent over backwards to make everyone feel right at home. My girlfriend and I stayed there recently and it was a great place. The cabins were clean, well attended to, and quaint. The owner was attentive and wonderful to deal with. What ever you do don't listen other reviews saying it isn't safe, nothing could be further from the truth. The crime in the mountains of NC is non existent and Whiteside Cove Cottages is no different. The Highlands area is beautiful and safe year around.\r \r Having lived there in the area of Cashiers for 3 years in the past and considering that I continue to visit the area to this day I CAN and WILL comment based on my experiences. I had also met George and found him to be a less than likable, shifty, and generally reprehensible person. By the way at the time he was armed, so to my thinking the mountains are NOW SAFER! Do not presume to comment about ones knowledge in regard to past events or another persons review unless you yourself have the facts!! I would direct you to Taylor v. Kentucky, 436 U.S. 478, 98 S. Ct. 1930, 56 L. Ed. 2d 468 [1978] so you can become ""UNCONFUSED"" about the mentioned parties legal rights under US LAW.\r \r We have stayed there in the past and feel very safe and comfortable returning in the future. I find it hard to believe someone could uphold the owners of this place! First of all, George was MURDERED, and I know the TRUE FACTS of the case, so do not spout off your legal mumbo-jumbo to me. Second of all, you should be ashamed to speak ill of the dead this way! George built this business, you slept in a cabin built with his hands, the ""owners"" are the ones who are reprehensible and shifty, (not to mention related to each other and known as a ""couple"". Kissing cousins indeed!! Perhaps you are related to them as well, I could see no other reason for someone to suggest these people are upstanding, moral human beings as you would try to lead others to believe.
