My family LOVES White Bear Dance Center. We started here a few years ago and have seen the change in the new ownership. Judy is an amazing women and is missed, but Katie and Jenny really do a fantastic job! The creative talent between these two is fantastic. If you are tired of the same-old same-old dance studio...then this is the place you want to try! The entire staff is so great with children and makes each child feel at home. We can not thank them all enough for the hard work and dedication they put into what they do. Excited to begin another great year with WBDC! more

White Bear Dance Center is by far the worst studio I have ever experienced. The lack of professionalism displayed by the owner and operator of this studio says a lot. I have danced at a few studios and now my daughter is dancing. We chose this studio due to it's proximity to our home. I have learned that it is worth the money to drive a little farther as this studio is awful. It became apparent to me last year when in the middle of the dance year, quite a few dancers left after the owner was heard putting down a fellow parent and dancer. This just shows a complete lack of professionalism. We have also left and have gone to another studio. Quite a few of our fellow dancers have followed suit and joined us. We love our new studio....it is a breath of fresh air! I just would not waste my time or money at White Bear Dance Center. A truly horrible dance experience! more

I think its total nuisance what people are saying about WBDC. Each Parent and Child has to decide whats the best fit for them and if you go in anywhere with a attitude then you have the problem. My granddaughter has been going to WBDC now going on 4 years shes grown so much and her confidence is real high and for people to put the studio down your putting these kids down that work so hard to achieve there goals. No one wants to here negative remarks so leave WBDC alone and the other Studios alone they all have there own qualities. I hope to send my granddaughter until she graduates from High School. Judy Murphy is a lovely person and she loved that studio with all her heart and the children. And the new owners are great as well and you can tell that they are very talented and giving people. There goal is to teach the children dance and put on a good show. So lets let them do there job and leave them alone. WBDC had another very successful year. I absolutely adore White Bear Dance Center. I have taken my daughters to a few different dance studios in the area, and this by far has been our best experience. The staff and owners are very welcoming and the organization and communication is by far superior than the other two studios we have attended. Reading the other reviews for this studio...I urge everyone to come and try it for yourself! I think you would be extremely pleased! From the little babies to their most advanced dancers, you can tell that all the people who make it all happen love what they do. I hope my daughters love dance through out growing up so I can see what great things they can accomplish at WBDC! more

This studio USED to be good when it was owned and operated by the Murphy family, aka Judy Murphy. It has since been sold. It is not the same studio and the current owner is not of the same caliber as the previous owner. I would not waste my time at the new White Bear Dance Center. There are far superior studios nearby that offer BETTER dance experience and are owned by people with integrity. more

I absolutely love this dance studio!!! I have been dancing at White Bear Dance Center for 12 years and love it!! I think of WBDC as a second home. The WBCD people are SUPER welcoming to new people. I love how creative all the dances are! I don't know what i would be with out WBCD! For anybody looking for a dance studio I strongly suggest this dance studio. The new owners are the nicest people. This dance studio is perfect for brand new dancers or dancers who have been dancing for a while looking for a different studio. I have made so many new friends dancing there! you will love it!! :) ? more

I read all of the other reviews from a few years ago... My daughter has been dancing at WBDC for 3 years now, and she has progressed from a recreational dancer at the age of 3, to now a level 2 competition dancer at the age of 6. Not only does she absolutely LOVE the studio, the new owners, and all of the other dancers, she has gained so much more that I am probably the only one able to see. Her self-confidence has exploded, seeing her perform on-stage, her face beaming, to me, means this studio is doing EXACTLY what I pay it to do. This studio is under new ownership, and while it may have had it's issues before the new ownership, the new owners are so kid-focused, that I am willing to bet that if you brought your child here, they would love it too. It is a bit overwhelming if you have never been in a dance studio before, and don't know how things work. There are a lot of kids moving from studio to studio, and be prepared to ask questions, because you will have them. The key here....ASK QUESTIONS. Don't assume! I'd like to address dcharleen from 2008. The studio purchases these costumes ahead of time, usually because they need to be embellished with more stones, etc. before the June recital, and many times, costumes are ordered in a lot as to get the same material coloration, not to mention, many dancers are competition dancers, so they use their costumes long before June rolls around. Anyway, if you take, let's say, even 100 costumes, multiply that by...oh....let's say $50 to keep it simple...that's $5,000. Do you have $5,000 laying around to pre-pay for a costume, and then HOPE the kids last that long, and actually will pay for their costume if they leave? There is a reason why things are done the way they are done. I'm not all that hesitant to say that if you didn't get your money back, it's because you were too scared to call and ask them for the refund. Accidents do happen when there is such a high volume of students and there's no way I would expect any of the staff members to remember who needs a refund, who owes money, etc. Give them a break. Now, the staff has changed quite a bit since 2008, but, really, this is a dance studio. NOT A DAYCARE. I have never once felt my child was unsafe or in danger in any way, but I also don't just drop her off and leave. If she's there, I'm there as well. Overall, this studio is an exceptional place that I don't mind bringing my 6 year old AND my 2 year old. Try it, and you won't be sorry! The creativity of the new owners is astounding, and I can't wait to see the routines this year! more

Be very careful with this dance studio. My granddaugher was enrolled in class and only attended a few weeks. They required that all costumes be paid in advance, months before the recital. They charged my account in November for a June recital costume. When my granddaughter moved, they promised to return the costume charge but never did. I heard one other family say they had the same experience. If we can't trust a business to be honest, how can we entrust them with our children? It was less than $100, and I am out of state, so it was not worth the court costs. It was just a matter of principle. Again, be very careful. Dancin Star Studio has a recent change to White Bear Dance Center. Not do they only have a new name they expanded A TON!!!!! Dancin Star is a really good environment for kids. I know I love it there. The Studio is awesome and there faculty is so nice!!!! At the studio all of the kids are sooooooo nice there!!! In the classes if they need assistants they will get them. When they get the assistants they are so nice. The owner Judy Murphy knows how to run the studio,she has some GREAT dance experience, she also has GREAT baton... My friend took baton from her I think year. The studio is an awesome place. more

i think dancin' star studio.... which is now called white bear dance center, is actualy a very nice place to dance. All of the teachers there are excellent, kind, and really teach the kids how to dance. There is no favoritism and they would never chase people out with a broom. white bear dance center is more mature then that. Pros: this studio is definetly a thumbs up!! plenty of dance space, and VERY nice facilitys. more

I would have to rate this studio with NO stars. It is extremely poorly managed and the faculty is very sub-par. My daughter attended there for one year and it was a horrible experience. The teachers were rude and insulting. The manager did not handle any problems. It was a very bad experience! Pros: none that I can think of Cons: Too many to list more

My daughter went there a couple years ago and we left recently. We do not usually judge, but the teachers here basically shoed us out with a broom. There was WAY to much political favoritism there and we highly don't recomed anyone who dosen't want there kids to be abused to go there. Cons: alot more
