So I've attended to 2 different community colleges, one for random meaningless classes and the other to get my Emergency Medical Technician cert. Now I am currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician course at WCC San Jose working towards that as well as getting my associates at the same time. And yeah, the price may dissuade you from attending, but think about it...At community colleges the classes are cheaper ($20-$200 or so) but then add up the cost of uniforms, books, supplies, etc and also to get both an associates AND a degree in whatever you may be studying, you're looking at a pretty high price and it takes years to accomplish your goal. At WCC all thats included! Scrubs and books for every class are covered and you'll be getting GE and a degree in whichever field you may be going into. And it's a one time type cost, not like pay each time for each course, it's all laid out for you there at the very beginning. Not to mention it takes a LOT less time to achieve your goal at WCC than at any other school. And if you took GE classes somewhere else, your credits are transferable!
Then there's the staff... Everyone there, even if they aren't your specific instructors or administrators, are always there with an open mind and open door and are ready and willing to assist you in any way they can.
I'm not sure about the other programs but I know for sure that the VT program, all its instructors and all the resources are at your disposal and greatly prepare you for your future career. It's a friendly atmosphere and like I mentioned before I'm not sure about other programs but the instructors make it a fun and educational environment. They have the ability to balance being an authority figure and an educator with being a normal human being that has gone through the same exact situations you're going through, and help relate the subject matter in a way you can understand and utilize the information and put it into practice. If you can't understand a subject there are different ways they will attempt to teach it in order to make it easier for you.
I could've gone to Foothill and gotten my VT cert, spent a ton of money and time, achieved less, and wouldn't be happy about actually going to school and learning. I'm happy a friend told me about WCC, because now I'm doing what I want with my life and it's not only easy, but fun! I totally recommend WCC to my friends and to all of you who may read this.
Pros: Friendly staff, nice environment, great education
Cons: none come to mind
