The Beam vacuum system works well (that is the reason for the one star). The problem is West Coast Enterprises. They said that they would trim out after painting and we basically had to beg them to come back out again. This was after we paid them of course. I was okay once that was done but then a year later we had some minor issues. They said they would "come take a look" instead - they sent out a 3rd party vacuum contractor that fixed all the problems (due to the original installation) but of course charged us. I couldn't blame the 3rd party person, he did a great job but we were basically tricked to think that the original company was coming out for a warranty visit and instead they sent a different company. We didn't even know it was another company until they finished the work. West Coast eventually returned my call and said that it was not their responsibility even though the person they sent out said it was there bad installation. This was the first time I ever filed a complaint with BBB and that was kind of a joke as well. They just showed BBB that we were out of warranty but the whole point was that we didn't authorize this service call and they never even acknowledge that there would not have been a problem if they would have installed the product correctly in the beginning. So in short - they might have a good BBB record but that does not mean they are honest and there are too many other good companies to bother with this one. Please do not use them! more

Our experience with this company has been outstanding, beginning with the installation of our central vacuum system in 2002. During the construction, I did some work wiring the audio system in the house, and needed an in-wall volume control. West Coast (WC) provided good technical assistance and mailed me a volume control that has filled the bill just fine. The part must have been mailed the same day I ordered it; it arrived very quickly. Eighteen months ago, I needed some parts for a modification I was doing to the vacuum piping in our house. They were mailed very promptly, and at no charge! Last month, I wanted to change the way our vacuum unit was vented, and stopped by the WC shop. An experienced installer sold me just the parts I needed, and cut the pipe to the lengths I requested, with no charge for all the assistance. During this visit, we purchased several vacuum tools, one of which turned out to be defective. The WC person who answered my phone call cheerfully suggested that I mail the part back for replacement; we had our new tool in two days. more

If I were to just comment on the quality of their product I would say that I'm VERY happy with my central vacuum system. They sell Beam Central Vacuums systems and we love it so much we use it everyday. However, the service we got from West Coast Enterprises is just ok. The people were rude and very short on the phone. Considering I spent over $1400 dollars with them I'd hope to get service that was a little more polite! Calls to their business were not returned the same day and when they did it seemed like I was bothering them with my questions. more
