I joined Weight Watchers when Lydia was three months old. It took me from from April to September to lose 46 pounds. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't too hard either.
Before I got pregnant with Lydia, I had lost about 15 pounds, and I kept that off after I had her. However, after she was born, I just couldn't get motivated to lose any more. A few of the women from my husband's store had joined Weight Watchers and were having success with it. So, Brian gently encouraged me to join myself. He knew the extra weight really bothered me.
I joined, and was very pleased with how simple the plan was. I could eat whatever I wanted, but I had to limit the portions. Weight Watchers also empahsized a healthy balanced diet with pleanty of fruits, vegetables, fiber and water. Oh yeah, exercise too, but I didn't really do that! Weight Watchers encourages its members to keep a food journal, tracking points (a value given to each food item determined by the amount of calories, fat and fiber, it basically boils down to 1 point for each 60 calories. Fat raises the points and fiber lowers it. Different weights have different points target, the average being around 20-25). Since I was nursing, I got an extra 10 points a day. Which was really nice!
I have kept most of the weight off for the past three years. I am currently about 10 pounds over my goal weight, but I'm focused on taking that off again. My 20th High School reunion is coming up next summer!
