The historic Weekly Register-Call has been sold to David Spellman on June 26, 2009. To keep the 147 years of continuous publishing going, Spellman then formed a partnership with Aaron Storms, Publisher and Editor of a larger competing local newspaper, the Gilpin County News. They are now the co-owners and co-publishers of the newly merged Weekly Register-Call, with Storms being the Managing Editor and point of contact, and publishing has been moved to the City of Black Hawk, Colorado.
