Better Options Elsewhere 9/12/2007

While the setting and food were noteworthy in a pleasant way, the service and experience left plenty to be desired. If you decide to try Vivo and are looking for good service, be sure to avoid Andrew K's section unless you wish to be treated as though you were in McDonalds. You might also ask the host to keep the rest of the service staff clear of your table until you are actually finished dining before they swipe your plate from you. It's a shame one should even have to consider making such requests to ensure a pleasant dining experience. There are plenty of other restaurants in Chicago where such requests are not needed! more

Italian Food 3/2/2006

Vivo is a great date spot in the city. Its a small restaurant that has a very intimate setting, so thats one thing that makes it good as a date spot. Plus, they serve up some really great Italian food here. They have all the typical Italian items on their menu, but everything is served and presented really well. They do have a nice little drinks menu too. For dessert, I would suggest skipping out on their menu and making your way to the Chicago Chocolate Company, which is just a short walk down. more

Great Italian in the West Loop! 9/29/2005

Vivo on Randolph is a great restaurant for upscale Italian, or for those who just want a trendier restaurant. The decor is cool, the lighting is low, and the menu is fantastic! They have a decent wine list, but many of the bottles are expensive ($35 was the cheapest). The pasta dishes are between $16-20 per plate, but you are served a lot of food! I highly recommend the bowtie pasta with the salmon. It is delicious! They also have wonderful olive oil for bread dipping. I highly recommend Vivo! more
