I have nothing but KUDOS to say about Dr Shily.. I recently had my yearly eye exam and wanted to get new lenses prescribed. My last optometrist wasn't BAD, but the whole getting an appt. and office process took way too long the last time I used them. I have to say that not only did he find that I might suffer from the early stages of glaucoma, (NO other optometrist I have seen has EVER informed me of this matter) but he personable, and very informative. Major plus, ""I'm not a doctor myself, so please give it to me in layman's term's Doc"", which he did.. Kindly. I always had to wait wait wait at my old Dr.'s office in Pasadena, but here they're VERY prompt and courteous. A MAJOR plus is that the new lenses I received actually do work better than my old glasses (I'm pretty ""blind"" at night, so this was a GREAT bonus). Overall, I would highly recommend this optometrist, prices and service are all a 5 out of 5 in my book.. more

I was referred to Dr.Shily years ago by the Jules Stein institute at UCLA... they said he was the best doctor in town for hard contact patients like me. And they were absolutely right! I have the worst eyesight and Dr.Shily has proven to me that he will work with me to make sure I see as well as possible. He has had incredible patience with me. Many other doctors would have given up on me but he never did, and I am so grateful to have him as my doctor. Dr. Maloney who performs lasik surgery told me I was not a canditate for that procedure but he confirmed that I was in the best hands with Dr.Shily and that he too would recommend Dr.Shily to anyone with hard contatct lenses and difficult eyesight. I highly recommend Dr.Shily. He has great chairside manners and its makes me feel safe to be under his care. 5 Stars! no doubt! more

Dr. BG Shily and Dr. Henry H. Oster at Visioncare Associates have been my eye care professionals of choice since 1987. Dr. Oster has since retired and Dr. Shily has been treating my keratoconus and astigmatism, and fitting me with specialized contact lenses for about ten years. I don't think I could trust any other doctor for this. Dr. Shily's knowledge and experience, his state-of-the-art equipment and detail-oriented approach, and especially the amount of time he spends with me as a patient, is I think unique in today's medical world of ""let's get more patients in and out the door and don't forget to ring the cash register on their way out."" The office is state-of-the-art new, the atmosphere always relaxed yet professional; I never feel rushed and I never have to wait and wait. And Dr. Shily himself is down to earth and very easy to talk to as well as a good listener. The bottom line is that I can't say enough about Visioncare Associates. Through them, and through Dr. Shily's meticulous efforts to fit me with the right contact lenses, I have been able to achieve and maintain excellent vision over the years and have been able to keep in check my very serious degenerative eye condition.
