i first found Violet's when I went to New Orleans for work before Hurricane Katrina and the salesgirl convinced me to try on a dress that I never would have picked myself, but looked amazing on! In fact it wound up being the dress I was wearing when I became engaged.....fast forward to a few weeks ago when I finally returned to New Orleans for a girls bday weekend with my sister and a few friends. She needed a drop dead dress for a wedding and we'd had NO luck in NYC, so I was praying that Violet's had survived the storm. It did- and had so many cute things- I was practically drooling....only bad thing is that they""re not open later at night- we tried to go after dinner but had to go back the next day. Anyway, my sister (who is not usually an easy fit) found an amazing dress. Katie, the salesgirl who helped us, was so helpful and kept suggesting dresses until we found the right one and then matched up the most perfect necklace and earrings. I wound up with some jewelry and a really cute embroidered top. They seem to have a little bit of everything- from going out tops to a gown you'd wear to the Oscars! This is the first time I've posted something on citysearch, but It was by far my favorite store in New Orleans and the salespeople were so nice, I felt like I had to give them some love! If you go to New Orleans (the food is AMAZING!) you must go to Violet's if you love to shop as much as I do....
