Best

I love the service, salad bar, and I used to always get this one pork dish that was out of this world. I'm taking my wife there soon!

Don't plan on enjoying a drink with dinner here if you are not from New York. I have recently moved to the Albany area from out of state, and I was there with my brother (also f...

Food rules 1/11/2011

Top notch Italian food here. Allot of history, especially those who know the original Volcano restaurant in Troy,NY. (these are the decedents here) The service really friendly but maybe not the polished upscale thing some people crave. Prices very reasonable too. more

Upstate has a great one here. 1/8/2011

Be conversational it says here...no..The food here is to be eaten. It is that good to hold off on the conversation. Service really caring too. Romantic too. more

Its Greeeeeeeeeeeat. 5/17/2010

The best in the Albany area for Italian food anyway. Service very friendly. Not polished though, again in Italy it was. It seems like this place is ingredient conscience. Most I my friends do not even know what that means. If they took a cooking vacation(like I did) there they would know exactly what I mean. Pros: Food..almost as good as my trip to Italy Cons: Not as good as in Italy more

Mothers Day 5/12/2010

On mothers day me and my family went to the Villa to celebrate mothers day. We had made reservations the week before very excited to try it. We have been to the villa many times before and love there food. We were seated rather quickly for such a busy day. There breakfast buffet was delicious, the french toast was with out a doubt the best ive ever had. THe salad bar had a great fruit assortment which was great for my daughter whom isnt that big on breakfast. I myslef loaded up on the roast beef and it was cooked just the way i like it. THey did a great job and i hope to see more brunch's like this! Pros: BRUNCH!!! more

Italian at another level. 5/12/2010

The veal is to die for. Wife says the seafood is. She is brought up in Long Island and says this place rivals their best. Interesting. Pros: Food more

bad version of Olive Garden or other chains 11/16/2009

I was anxious to try this place bc of all the reviews. I am originally from Long Island and haven't enjoyed Italian food on the outside since I've been home. Yet, this place had great reviews so I gave it a chance. First off, even with a reservation I waited an hour. An hour to be seated at a restaurant with a SALAD BAR! No salads on the menu...not a classy place by any means. Who still does the salad bar unless it's a fast food restaurant?? Secondly, the food was bad. We had to pour salt for flavor on the pasta and my cousins chicken was rubbery. The service was beyond poor. Waitress barely came around and when she did we were rushed. So many better places to eat! more

Best Garlic Rolls in The Area 6/22/2009

Me and my girlfriend went to villa valenti last saterday. After being seated we were greated by our waitress with the most delicious bread sticks i may of ever eaten. \r WHen dinner came i was almost shocked at how much food was on my plate. I got the chicken sorrento which i ate for 2 days after, and my girlfriend got the chicken crab and lobster guliana which i can only describe as delicious. After eating only about a third of our food because we wanted to save room for desert, we got a lemon sorbet that came in a reall Lemon!. I was very happy with the service as well as the food, and they will without a doubt see me there again. Pros: Good Sauce, Big Portions, Salad Bar more

Value and Family! 3/6/2009

Good Italian at a great price. I always have more for the next day! I love their Eggplant Rollatini!! Wow! The best! more

Smallbany...you lucky? 2/9/2009

Hicks in smallbany lucky here! You are hicks, yes you are, embrace that:0\r There are so many variables N.Y. city has over you. One is food. We know good food and are light years ahead of anything up there. You people think Olive garden,Macaroni Grill,Fridays are good, please.\r \r Culture and education needed badly.\r \r Tried many up there and only a couple I like. depending on cuisine and decor, etc. My two favorites are Cafe Capricio and Villa Valenti. They are very different but the same in the ingredient area. They offer the best Albany has to offer. Been to your more expensive(though Capricio up there) but none our better than these two. Luckily your population is small , so you do not need more than two places I guess:) Pros: food Cons: location more

Best Italian Food 10/23/2008

I heard great things about the Villa Valenti Restaurant. So my family and I went to the Villa last week. It was truly a wonderful time. We had a drink at the bar and had quite a few laughs with the bartenders. Service was quick. Then we were escorted to our table by a very hospitable hostess. We had quite a large party so we had a few waitresses waiting on us. And what friendly waitresses may I say. They were friendly, service was excellent and I just cannot say enough about the food. Portions were large, the sauce is truly homemade and exceptional. All the dishes we ordered, from steaks to Sorrentos, chicken dishes and veal dishes were delicious. We were made to feel at home and the food was more than we expected. The owner came to our table and greeted us which is something not seen very often. He was very gracious and we enjoyed him coming and chatting with us. From beginning to end, I would say we had a very enjoyable evening and will definitely be back (bringing friends with us also). Great job and keep up the good work! more

Best Italian Food 10/3/2008

My boyfriend and I went to the Villa Valenti Restaurant last week to celebrate our anniversay. We both had a wonderful time. Both our meals were absolutely delicious. I had the Seafood Pescatore which was out of this world. My boyfriend had the Ciopino which he raved about for days. Hats off to the Chef!!! Both seafood dishes were excellent. Our waitress was friendly and we just loved the atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit to the Villa! more

Best Italian Restaurant in Town 10/2/2008

I went to the Villa Valenti Restaurant for the first time last night. I was highly impressed. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge. I was nicely greeted by the hostess. My waitress was quite friendly and made me feel quite welcome. She explained the specials to me and when I asked a few questions about the menu she was quite knowledgeable. She recommended a few choices and suggested the New York Strip Steak (I was in the mood for a steak). It was probably one of the best steaks I ever had. The salad bar was quite impressive also. I had to try the homemade bannana cream pie. That was to die for! All in all I had a wonderful time. I will definitely be back and bring some friends with me. Keep up the good work! more

Food is me 9/27/2008

I am a food lover. Italian food is my problem. Loving something too much can be just as bad as not enough. I miss Italy! \r In the Albany area the Villa Valenti has well balanced flavors and ingredients that I know are the best available for this country. However, if you go to Italy you will understand that the restaurant and farm are one. Farms are amazing there. They produce for taste and not profit. \r Yes I will settle for the Villa Valenti while in business in Albany, tried most you have to offer. They just do not have the farms here in the US that produce properly. Pros: Food Cons: Do not have great farms in the U.S. more

Great food and customer service 9/23/2008

I went to Villa Valenti Restaurant for the first time this past weekend with a group of friends. The food was absolutely terrific! I had the Chicken Sorrento which was phenomenal and the portion was huge! Another person had the prime rib which was definitely a king size cut while yet another had a seafood dish that they raved about. The wait staff was extremely attentive and very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed but fun at the same time. We had a great time and all of us would highly recommend this restaurant. It is only 15 minutes outside of Albany and well worth the trip! We will definitely be back! more

Very average place, decent value. 8/18/2008

I must say I head that Villa does have quite large portions and they sure do. I did take a lot home. I also heard that it is a great value and that I don't quite agree with. Value to me is kid of like a math problem... Quality x quantity / price = value. Quantity is very large as I said but the price while not terribly expensive is not cheap considering that you are just getting what is more or less plain old standard italian cuisine. Villa was okay. Didn't wow me. Pros: Large portions Cons: The salad bar is kind of nasty. Food is somewhat disappointing. more
