We had a wedding cake made by them last year because we wanted a sugar free top layer. \r It was delicious. \r We went back for the anniversary cake and it was dry and tasked like they spread butter on the outside of the cake. It's sad to see a business decline so far in a year. more

Awful cake! 4/10/2008

We were very disappointed in the cake we purchased for our anniversary party from the Southpoint location. It was dry and did not taste fresh or ""from scratch"" at all, more like a previously frozen cake, STALE. I was certainly expecting a cake that tasted better than something you can get at the grocery store, especially for the price, somewhere around $129.00 for 1 cake and 3 dozen small cookies. I have complained, however, in reading the other reviews, I seriously doubt if I get a response.\r Service was good. Professional & courteous. Pros: the cookies! Cons: the cake! more

Avoid getting your cake done here.... 3/2/2008

You hear horror stories about ordering a cake and upon pickup, it's not at all what you ordered... well, it happened to me at Victoria's in Southpoint (Durham)!\r Being the Matron Of Honor I took 30 min. picking out the perfect square cake for the brides Shower... pink frosting with white piping and black accents (ribbon). What I got... was a round cake (I ordered square) with white frosting, pink & lavender piping and there was no black accents anywhere. I was dumbfounded when the girl brought me a cake that looked like nothing I ordered! Heck, the pink frosting was not even mixed well, so I had lavender and pink wording... it looked awful! \r I took pictures of this cake to show Victoria's, but thought what's the point in showing them, because when I went to pick up the cake they did not offer me anything. They could have offered me another cake, gave me a discount or something! The girl told me she would have someone call me about what happened.... do you think anyone did?!?!?! You guessed it, I never got a call. So, I'm thinking why bother taking the pictures to them, when they don't care to make things right. and never did anything in the first place.\r So, I served a ugly cake that looked nothing like I ordered. Grrr... So, I suggest really being careful if you plan to order a cake for a special occasion.... you don't want to be stuck with a bad cake at the last min. like I did. Pros: Cake tasted OK Cons: Bad Service and uncaring. more

One STAR for this Bakery.....Bad Service, Stale cookies, Over-priced and not good for clients to visit 2/25/2008

I have had bad experiences witht his Bakery. An expensive cake with cracks......it seems like cracks are their signature(see other comments); another time we bought a cake and the cake had mold, It was closed saturday afternoon and I had to wait until moday to show them...I drove and they gave me a refund. On another ocassion I had an eclair and the cream was bad. The girl at the counter told me they were making fresh ones, so they had to throw away the old ones in their display. Another ocassion I went to order cakes for my son's B-day and they no longer make custom cakes....they do not know how to read orders and mix colors. 2 weeks ago I went to give them another opportunity and what a bad experience..the tables full of their items ready to be deliverd and no seats available. Lady charged me fora decaf-cofee and she gave an espresso...'common..what else? my friend ordered and got charged twice for a hot cocoa. I think the thin-skinny girl needs to be trained more on the register and have a smile on her face or she shouldn't be there... Finally, I do not recommend this Bakery...there are more bakeries in the area that you will get your money worth and eat fresh stuff. Go to the bakery in Durham off of 15-501. it starts with a G. It has a German name that is why I cannot pronnounce it. Google it and you will be very very impressed. Pros: nothing Good Cons: Bad service, Bad cakes. Go somewhere else more

Give It a Shot!! Rich in Quality & Service! 2/22/2008

My experience at Victoria's Sweets was excellent. Despite the short comings expressed by previous reviewers, I believe that this relatively new bakery has standards of perfection and a commitment to ensuring the satisfaction of their customers, hence refunds and appropriate accommodations, whereas in many competing businesses you won't find this type of dedication. The desserts are quite delightful and I am truly impressed with the assorted selection of treats and cakes. There needs to be more businesses in the area that hold up to Victoria's Sweets' level of quality and satisfaction. I have observed, first hand, the bakery making way for several organizations and businesses in the Triangle area to benefit from complimentary dessert platters and cakes for meetings, conventions, social events, and the like. I highly recommend Victoria's Sweets as a regular customer and as one with a critical eye for customer service and product quality. \r \r Best wishes to Victoria's Sweets on continued expansion in the area and beyond!\r more

NO SERVICE 11/28/2007

I used to frequent the Durham location before it was taken over by Victoria's Sweets and the customer service has taken a dive bomb. The help is inept, ignorant, slow and rude. I had to leave when the person in front of me ordered a smoothie and the employee attempted the smoothie--TWICE--without blending it with any juice or liquid. \r The baked goods are passable, but nothing special--let alone overpriced for the tiny portions provided. Pros: location Cons: service, commonality more

Resolution 11/15/2007

OK so my wife is mythreets and posted the prior review. After some e-mailing and phone calling we are finally supposed to be recieving a FULL refund for our sons birthday cake. It hasn't posted to our credit card yet , but we are told it's coming. We are very appreciative for this, and believe that it was the right thing. I feel better about doing business with this company now knowing that they stand behind their products 100%. Maybe we will give them a try one more time and see if the result is better. In the end the important thing is they are doing the RIGHT thing. Thank you Kristi for all of your help. more

How to ruin a birthday party.. 11/1/2007

I found out about this place from the Kids Expo. The cake they had there was a great tasting cake. When I ordered my son's 3rd birthday cake from them it was a different story. Let me start with the fact that this cake was $70. For that kind of money I should be getting an incredible cake. NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY the outcome. We discussed with the manager present making suggestions to us how the cake should look. I go to pick up the cake DISASTER. Who decorates a cake like this? The edible image that was on the cake was a picture of Little Bear in a forest. The ding dong that decorated this cake air sprayed the entire top of the cake with green and blue so the dark colors came through the rice paper only to make the image very green and blue. Sounds lovely doesn't it!! I wish I could post pictures because I assure you people would be in disgust if they could see the pictures of this cake. I complained right away, and recieved the $20 back I payed for decorations. I should have and would have just walked away but these CRAFTY people already had my money!!! Coincidence I don't think so!! They require a deposit ,so I just paid in full to be done with it. What a BIG MISTAKE!!!!! So I took the horrible looking cake and just prayed that it is going to be much better on the inside. NOT the case. First off I ordered butter cream icing only to find out when tasting that it was whipped (YUK). The cake itself tasted like 2 week old bread. Of my 32 guests not a one of them took more than two bites before throwing it in the trash. How embarassing can it get? Not only did the cake look horrible, my guests couldn't even stomach it. Ok are you ready for the kicker? I called the bakery right away that evening and left a detailed message asking someone to call me to resolve the issue and haven't heard a word. I e-mailed as well and am patiently waiting. My best advice would be stay away from this bakery!! You can get a much better cake from Blue Moon, Edible Art, or even Wal-Mart.:) Pros: Nothing good to say Cons: I could say enough bad stuff about this place more

worst experience ever 8/23/2007

I will never visit nor referred this place to anyone- I visited the Morrisville location to order a cake for my daughters first b-day party- I wanted the cake to be the major attraction of the event so Victorias Sweet was the place-I thought!!! I order the cake and gave them the theme colors PASTEL colors with a pink based- simple enough right!!!! The day came- I went to pick up the cake at the Durham location because delivery was not available- to find a cake with every color but PASTEL, blue, yellow, RED, BLACK!!! Almost die. Not only the colors were off but it was cracked on top and the red was running all over the cake- the top was purple not pink as I ordered. I was going to be charge $180.00 for this cake- 45 for decoration 15 for each stack. Waited almost 30 minutes for a decorator to call to see if they could change the colors but no one called. Finally the nice lady behind the counter called the owner and her suggestion was to take $25.00 off the price/ leave the cake/ or have it later that evening with the colors I wanted or to take another cake, but no other cake was available. I was so hurt and sad because i was going to have a beautiful party wich I planned for months without a cake. As of this day- 4 days after the party no one has called me to give me an explanation of what happend- i guess they do not care for a $180. lost and me as a customer. On the day of the party I had 2 friends that are getting married within the next year and my best friend that is celebrating a big party for her company. They will not be calling Victoria's Sweet for services and hopefully you will not call them either. Imagine your big day ruined- it happened to me and the feeling was not good. The party turned out beautiful, but it would have been nice to have everyone comment about the cake and everyone asking were I got the cake from- to bad Victorias Sweet is your lost not mine- i still have great memories of the day. Good luck to all of you. more

Great customer Service 7/24/2007

Since I was first introduced to Victoria Sweets they have always exceed my expectations. I have used them on numerous occassions @ short notice and they have always fulfilled my orders. They have always gone the extra mile to met my needs. I generally order their gift baskets for my clients and they are always impressed with them.\r \r I would highly recommend them to anyone that likes to feel that your business is appreciated. As well as receive a quality product.\r \r Cedric\r -Statisfied customer Pros: Great food Cons: not in my neiborhood more

Sweet Thoughts about Victoria's Sweets 7/22/2007

Victoria's Sweets is hands down the best bakery I've ever encountered in the Triangle area. First, the cakes, cookies, and other desserts are delectable. The drinks served in the cafe are scrumptious, and the service is always very warm and friendly. There is also wireless internet access, which is a bonus for any establishment that I frequent! As a ""sweets connoisseur,"" I was so happy when they opened the location at Fayetteville Road in Durham, because now I do not have to drive all the way to Morrisville for that great service and those goodies. Not to mention, when a new location is open, much is done to ensure that the entire community is involved and knows about the event - good time had by all! It rates number one in my book. Pros: service, customer service Cons: not 24 hours more

The Best Bakery Around by Far 7/20/2007

I first ran into a Victoria's Sweets at a Raleigh Chamber event about two years ago. Among the many companies that were there only one Bakery. One of the owners was there in person. As the owner gave me a scone, I must admit that I had never taste one before. You see I am orginally from Washington, DC where I was use to a family own bakery most of my life. Call me picky about the food I eat. Well, as I tasted the warm scone and several other Items I was hooked. I need to know more information about Victoria's Sweets. Where they were located hours and how to get more. I been in the Carolinas 10 years. I search out many of fine bakerys from Winston Salem to Raleigh. This is the place to fine bake goods. I started using them for all my business needs. I sent gift baskets to clients for special events. I sponsored meeting and events using them. I have purchased everthing from cakes, cookies , pies and more. Everything is always good and fresh and delivered on time. I have seen my personal business increase partical due to their great food. In fact , in my business , I have even ""Won"" some major business accounts using them, their great food and Logo making machine. A logo cookie, or cake makes a special touch for my business or major events. Since, I found them I do not get my bake goods any where else. If you want to step up the ""Fine"" homemade bakery with style then here you are. Personally, I do not like to get my specialty foods from those store chain bakeries where you can get all your meats and milk. \r \r I forgot I need to place another order with them right now! more

A Taste of Home 7/20/2007

I consider myself a foodie (someone who loves to eat and try new things). What compounds this is that I am a foodie from the north. One thing I missed when I moved down to the south is the lack of traditional family run bakeries. There are a few scattered here and there, but the quality is not always the best. So imagine my joy when I stumbled upon Victoria's Sweets. This family run New Orleans bakery set this foodies' mouth to water as the smells entered my nostrils when I walked thru the door. Made to order cakes, fresh desserts, and the best mouth watering cookies. I can't speak on the experience of the other reviewers, I'm actually sad that they are letting this hidden jewel pass them by. Friendly service, quality food, and the best kept secret- try the oatmeal cranberry cookies. A lot of people in the Triangle have become addicted to V.S. and the numbers are growing. So to those former reviewers get over yourself and give this bakery another try. To anyone else reading this review I brought some of the mini cakes(and personalized them) for my co-workers as a thank you, they still ask when I am going to get them another thank you gift from Victoria's Sweets. If you are looking for that special bakery with a homemade feel- give Victoria's Sweets a try. Pros: Friendly service, nice locations, great comfort food Cons: They run out of your favorites fast more

Apparently Cannot Read Orders 7/9/2007

OH how I wish I'd read a Citysearch review BEFORE trotting myself naively into Victoria's Sweets!!! Go ahead - place the KICK ME sign firmly on my back. We ordered a cake for our child's birthday. Custom. The girl taking our order was extremely pleasant and went over the order with me thoroughly to ensure she'd copied down my instructions correctly. Imagine my surprise ---- not to mention my child's complete disappointment --- when we cut into a cake totally different than our order. Instead of yellow cake - it was chocolate cake. Instead of a chocolate cream filling --- it was plain, dull icing. It was described as ""chocolate"" icing .....but call me crazy......the color looked like the tile grit my husband used in our bathroom. The decorative ""flowers"" appeared to have been created by a 3-year old running amonk their shop. Taste? Perfect - if you like week OLD cake. Like a rock. Had Blue Moon Bakery (Cary) been open this holiday week -- I would've never ventured to Victoria's. Their work (BMB) is incomparable -- they deserve 10 stars. My hubby said to complain & get a refund. But how can you ""re-do"" a party? Damage is already done. Buyer beware. Pros: Friendly customer service Cons: Totally opposite of what you request! more

Terrible Customer Service and STALE cookies 6/17/2007

My fiance and I have had two horrible experiences with Victoria's Sweets Bakery. In April of 06 we went for a cake tasting. Our consultant gave us our cake samples (3 sample of 0.5"" thick by 3"" long, with three small dollops of icing) and a dirty book of pictures to flip through while she attended to another couple who had showed up early for their appointment (we were on time). After explicitly telling our consultant we did not want fruit filling, she kept pushing a strawberry filling (3 or 4 tims) because she felt it was nice and light for the summertime. During the design of the cake, we mentioned that we did not want fresh flowers decorating the outside. While she verbally acknowledged our request, she was drawing fresh flowers spiraling outside of the cake. Clearly, she was either distracted or incompetent in her ability to translate our preferences in the design process. Because of this experience we chose to order our wedding cake from another local vendor who more than capable of providing us with our preferences. \r \r My fiance and I were also interested in ordering iced sugar cookies as our wedding favor. The fist time I stopped by Victoria's Sweets to purchase a sample cookie, they did not have any in their case. When I inquired about a sample & explained my needs, the girl helping me decilined to arrange for a small sample order of 2 cookies to be made. She could not tell me when they'd have cookies made for general purchase, nor would she take my phone number to call me when they were available. On the second occassion that I stopped by to purchase a sample, there were three iced sugar cookies in the case. I again explained my needs and after I purchasing the cookie, the girl told me that the cookie wouldn't be a very good sample because it ""wasn't fresh."" I couldn't believe the girl charged me over two dollars for a STALE cookie that was hard as a rock. We will never do business with Victoria's sweets again! Cons: banker's hours, terrible service, stale cookies more

NO commitment, poor delivery, no courtesy 3/26/2007

I ordered a cake for my sisters wedding reception for a group of 100. It was a three tiered chocolate heart cake which costed about 300 dollars. The owner Alida wrote the order and with a big smile said that the cake would be awesome. But on the day of the reception the cake never reached the location. When my sister called up no one picked the phone on a working day. Two days later when my sis called her up the lady said that the cake was ready but the employees were confused and they did not deliver. This lady had no courtesy to call us on our number and tell us that they couldnt deliver. Actually i feel the cake wasnt ready at all. I would not recommend this place to anyone for sure. Cons: Bad delivery, no courtesy more
