Valley Cycle has always taken pride in doing good honest work. We believe we have for over 30 years. I write this to merely address you concerns. Are hands are tied when it comes to shipping from the west coast, we called around to many other shops to track down the part but were unable to. As for the time to get it done, we didn't feel 100% that the bike was right, but with intermittent problems it's next to impossible to tell for sure. With being rushed by the customer perhaps we should have worked through the weekend... (It ended up being a combination of a bad fuel valve from a rusty tank and blocked vent from a rusty tank that created pressure in the tank, especially while idling in traffic, that overflowed the carbs) When the bike came back and this time with a broken Speedo we surely weren't thrilled. It was brought up at the very beginning but at that point was again intermittent. But with the second time around it was more frequent and therefore we caused it. Okay. The problem was caused by a slice in the wire from the wheel speed sensor to the dash under the fairing. This section of the bike was untouched by us. Every time the wheel was turned the wire was cut. Again, hard to track down but an easy fix. Zip-tie it to where it should've been in the first place. Kreeming a tank is a long and time consuming procedure, you would know if you've ever attempted it. We do it because it is a very cheap alternative to buying a new tank. The way the process works is that the metal surface is stripped of the ""rustproof surface"" leaving bare untreated metal. The kreem is then applied and is absorbed into the metal. (This is why you see so many forum posts saying, ""I screwed up the kreem how do I get it out?"" That's a very hard process we've never had to do. The ""scratch"" was nothing more than an imperfection in the top coat. The rust proofing is in that the kreem soaks into the metal. The options. That's straight forward business practices. Summer is our busy time of year. We can't afford to spend time on someone that won't pay us for our services. I hope that anyone looking for a good mechanic and engine builder takes the time to read this. You can't make a choice on someone else's misfortunes and how they dealt with them. Because really two intermittent problems, what luck. See you in the spring
