Vala's pumpkin patch is an Omaha Halloween tradition, as is evidenced by the overflowing parking lots the entire month of October. Not only can you take a hayrack ride out to a pumpkin field where you can pick out the perfect pumpkin, but you can also walk through the fairy tale museum, a cute if somewhat hokey group of tableaux featuring manniquins as your favorite nursery rhyme characters, cheer on the pigs at the pig races, visit the amazing pumpkin eating dragon, and roast hot dogs over a campfire. It's a little expensive, a little crowded, a little hokey, but a lot of fun. Once a year.
