  • Usha S. Mani, M.D. is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. She is an orthopaedic traumatologist and sports medicine specialist at Dallas Methodist Medical Center. She is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University receiving her BA in Biophysics in 1994. She received her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1999. She completed a five year orthopaedic residency at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ under the chairmanship of Fred Behrens, M.D. and directorship of Mark Reilly, M.D. and Michael Sirkin, M.D. She subsequently did a sports medicine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University-Rothman Institute with Dr. Michael Ciccotti, M.D. She served as junior faculty – trauma fellow at Ben Taub General Hospital/Baylor University in Houston, Texas. She has also additionally completed an AO North America Trauma Fellowship at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ under the directorship of Robert Ostrum, M.D.

    Dr. Mani is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). She is an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and has been appointed as teaching faculty AO North America. She is also a member of the Limb Lengthening and Reconstructive Society. She serves on multiple hospital committees for process improvement initiatives and the care of orthopaedic trauma patients.

    She has received an NIH Howard Hughes Intramural Research Fellowship Award from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Disease. She has authored multiple papers and book chapters in the field of orthopaedic trauma as well as sports medicine.

    She has served as assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Phillies professional baseball team and St. Joseph's University Division I Men's and Women's Athletic department and the US Women's Olympic Gymnastics team. Dr. Mani was assistant team physician for the national lacrosse team Philadelphia Wings and the Philadelphia Marathon as well as local high schools in the Philadelphia area.

    Dr. Mani's primary interests are the management of complex fractures of the upper and lower extremity, pelvis and acetabulum, as well as a practice focus on the treatment of nonunions and malunions of fractures, osteomyelitis, limb lengthening, deformity corrections, limb salvage, and post traumatic reconstruction. She has a specialty interest in the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of all acute and chronic sports related injuries in children and adults as well as a focus on the injured female athlete. She has a clinical interest in ACL and multi-ligamentous knee arthroscopic reconstruction, meniscal injuries, shoulder instability and rotator cuff repair, as well as arthroscopy of the hip, elbow, and ankle.. Dallas Orthopaedic Trauma Institute brings together a team approach to orthopedic trauma surgery completely focused on innovative treatment options for musculoskeletal injuries and trauma patients including:
    • Pelvic and acetabular fractures
    • Open and closed fractures and dislocations of extremities
    • Non-union and mal-union fracture
    • Limb salvage and bone regrowth.
