I walk my dog past the restaurant Locando Verde in Tribeca every day, every season & I am so thrilled that they are enhancing the neighborhood by filling the outdoors with incredibly beautiful potted arrangements of trees, flowers & even fruit bushes(last year's rasberries were yummy when I picked one or two, Oops). I even photographed the winter scenario, it looked so nice. Then the next setting was the tulips & daffodils which said spring, even on those wintery days we had in April. Now the summer plantings have begun with the grasses swaying in the wind, the passion flower vines climbing the bamboo rungs & the annuals brightening up my day. Today I finally asked who did this wonderland of plants & was told Urban Green Gardeners (someone named Tommy)so here I am to tell you how fabulous everything looks. as a recent transplant (no pun intended) i was at a bit of a loss in how to find a competant and reasonably priced gardener. i am happy to report that i found both in urban green city gardens (tommy and tony). having little knowledge and even less time to involve myself with my new and barren backyard, i handed the reins to tommy and he did not disappoint. he posesses an encyclopedic knowledge of all things green and an impressive artistic eye--he has taught me alot about why he chose what he did and how i can best maintain my new small paradise. i am grateful for this site for putting me in touch with tom. I had small Brownstone garden that had virtually nothing there.Urban Green came out assesd the soil and transformed my small garden into a magical space.There were challenging conditions such as low light and inpoverished soil conditions.Tommy planted plants that thrived and transformed this space into a beautiful peaceful space.I highly recommend Urban Green for their professionalisn,reliablility,and insightfulness. I live in a small Brownstone Co-Op, and Thomas and his team transformed my Roof Top Terrace into a wonderfully green urban oasis. It transforms me everyday I come home from work. They did such an amazing job that my Co-Op Board and my Neighbor next door in a private house both hired him. He is truely one of the most kind and generous individuals you will meet. He will not only transform your garden but he will also transform your heart & soul through his delightful conversation. Not only did he know everything and anything about plants but he was also extremely helpful in getting me wonderful roof top planters. I am really surprised by all of these good reviews though it is why I selected Tommy in the first place. He was hardly responsive from the getgo but I figured that was because he was so good so I tolerated it. He was a noshow for one appointment and never called after I had already left work early. Frustrating enough. However, my biggest complaint is that he ignored the insight from prior owners? gardening attempts and our garden?s shade conditions which I stressed to him many times and unfortunately failed with the majority of the stuff he planted. While he did refund the money for the three most expensive items (which were COMPLETE failures), I haven?t heard anything from him on the other items. He continues to ignore my emails. I do understand that gardening is extremely challenging and unpredictable but I had expected an ?expert? gardener would have at least tried a second time instead of just giving up (AND ignoring the customer)! Very disappointing and not very professional! Pros: None Cons: Unreliable, unprofessional, poor outcomes more

Tommy has helped me transform my Park Slope garden from a wild, disorganized collection of just about everything to an integrated, visually beautiful and healthy garden. What I like about him most is his willingness to take my ideas and then put his master touch on what I do----based not only his artist's eye, but also also on his vast knowledge and expertise. Yet he is humble and open to suggestions and comments as we work together to figure out a plan. Moreover, he acknowledges what he doesn't know and will go home to research information about a plant or problem we identify.
