University of Pittsburgh is a great school in the city 4/14/2006

I attend the University of Pittsburgh and I have been mostly pleased. I'll list the advantages first. It is a good education for the money with plenty of scholarship oppurtunities. It is a large school so you have plenty of oppurtunities. Also, there is a large selection of classes and majors so you're never "stuck" with a degree or class you hate. With many students, you will always have a friend and make friends. The disadvantages: it is a large university, you can get lost in the cracks. If you want a city environment with a good education behind it, Pitt is it! more

Pitt rules 11/15/2005

Great campus, one of the nicest inner-city campuses I've ever seen. The classes are great, and the academics are improving every single year in almost every single department. The on-campus events are decent, although I never cared much for the bands they bring to Bigelow Bash and the WPU... Good nightlife, plenty of fun to have on or off campus at frats, bars, house parties, clubs, whatever.. Go Pitt. more

Great Campus 10/16/2005

Pitt's campus is absolutely beautiful. Just walking past it takes your breath away. It has a beautiful Gothic feel to it. My daughter attended Pitt for teaching and absolutely loved it. The major downside being the parking in the area (there isn't any). On the other hand though, she loved her classes, loved her advisers, and just loved the whole place! more

Regret 10/12/2005

I regret attending Pitt. I felt as if I was caught in a war between the snobbier student body and the attitude ridden folks employed in various "service" capacities around campus. As for the education? I could have gotten a similar education at a state school for a fraction of the money. It is easy to slip through the cracks at Pitt, so if you are the type that needs a lot of coddling and hand holding, do not go here. The one good thing about my Pitt experience is that I learned to stand up for myself. This school also tries to sell itself as being diverse, I guess it is if you are from Cottontown, Pennsylvania. Don't come to Pittsburgh thinking that you are getting a smaller version of NYC. A viewbook can make anything look good. more

A great university... 8/21/2005

I attended the University of Pittsburgh for my undergraduate degree in social work. I highly recommend the University of Pittsburgh if you are looking for a large school in an urban environment. The best thing about the school was all the services it provided. The student health center was great, you could ride on public transportation with your student identification for free, and the housing department was also very good. The teachers and classes were also excellent with most classes being fairly small. more
