As you know it was a “long hard battle” to convince my mother to give up her apartment and consider moving in to Wesley. She was and is very independent. After she gave up driving at age 93, as a result of losing her eye sight in one eye, she began to realize that she “might” need some help. However, it still took a lot of convincing, and arm twisting, only because she felt that she was giving up her independence. Teresa, your patience and understanding, in allowing my mom to make up her own mind, and feel that she was making the decision to move on her terms and in her timing was absolutely the right thing to do. We finally got her moved in last April of 2014. She has a beautiful apartment, and balcony. AND, most importantly, she LOVES it at Wesley! After all of the initial reluctance to moving in, I think it took about one day (maybe one hour) for her to get acclimated, and get introduced to many people. The convenience of the meals, the services, transportation to places, the entertainment, the beautiful décor, and the friendly caring staff all came together to make this transition from an apartment in a high rise building where she had to take care of everything herself, to a “retirement community” seamless. Our entire family, all eight of her children, are very happy with Wesley, and especially my Mom. Thank you and your staff for everything you have done and are doing to provide a warm and loving place for my Mom to live out the rest of her life.
