Uncle Sam Lanes

Want to bring your kids over for a birthday party? Come on over. Want to host a league? Welcome. Want to practice bowling (just one person)? Oh, sorry, we're full. That is what I get every time I come to this place. Between the parties and leagues there is never an open lane. I wasted time calling ahead, told they had open lanes and then upon arrival "oh, we just had a group come in and we have to open up lanes so and so for the leagues and there are so many birthday parties and blabity blabity blabity blabity..." and every excuse imaginable. So unless you are fortunate enough to be in a league or have 20 people who want a birthday party there, don't even bother. Oh and extra thanks for not bothering to let people know how to JOIN a league. more

Considering all of the other options available to people in the Troy area, Uncle Sam's Lanes is not exactly a bad option. Since they made the billiards hall into a homeless shelter, bowling is the only indoor sporty option on a weekend night. Uncle Sam's is your regular bowling alley. They have about 30 lanes and plenty of balls. It's not in the newest condition, but at the same time it's not horribly ratty either. Be sure to bring hand cleaner along with you though. I have purchased food at their concession stand, and the prices are very reasonable. Although their pizza is a bit greasy, the rest of the food seems to be good quality fast food fare. more

My family and I enjoy heading over here on a rainy afternoon. The kids can bowl and have fun. The lanes are clean and the people are very nice. They have the usual bowling chow - drinks, snacks, etc. There is parking in the rear of the building, and it's easy to access from downtown. more
