I can't recommend any more. I was a member here for almost a year. The program worked well until two of the trainers left. While I was in the program I wrote glowing reviews until things went south. For the first 4-5 months, I never trained with Ron. It was the two hired trainers I worked with. After those two trainers quit, Often, there were No Trained or Certified instructors available or onsite. I was a strong supporter of this program until I had no trainers. I know Richelle M below and I also know several of the other reviewers. You will see two camps, one will be people that are still there and help him with his business in exchange for reduced or no membership fees and then there are those that did well and left due to poor business practices or due to the lack of trainers or the problems as described. Trish H was a trainer and she is no longer there. Richelle M was a client that would have a different story if she was writing it today. Michelle D is currently there and is the individual that works social media for the owner. I am not saying the program does not work. By all means it does as long as you stick to it but buyer beware. more

Being overweight my entire life, I have tried everything. This is the first place I have ever actually enjoyed working out. Yes, I said enjoyed it. The people are simply amazing. You will never in your life meet another group of people who care so much about you and your goals. From Ron, to the trainers, to the members, every single one of them genuinely care about what you are trying to accomplish. The sense of accountability is phenomenal. The camaraderie between members is as good as family. Everything you do will be with a team of people around you to support and motivate you. I have thoroughly enjoyed every single minute. And don't think the workouts will be easy. They will challenge you to your core, literally. But when you are done, you will be so amazed at what you have accomplished. You will leave every day feeling a sense of pride in yourself. more

Excellent Program! 1/21/2012

This is a great program! It's not a typical gym that you pay your monthly fee for and come and go as you like. It's a commitment and an investment that is worth every penny! I did 20 week program in Plano and the trainers were amazing. My results were great and more important - consistent. As with anything else, you will get from this program what you put into it. If you give 100% you will be amazed with what you are capable of doing. The classes are small and personal and the trainers want everyone to succeed. They make themselves accessible by email/txt for support outside of class and really understand how difficult it is to juggle a consistent fitness program into our busy lives. I loved it! more

Be all that you are truly capable of being! 1/21/2012

I never played sports growing up and as a result, I just never had that drive or competitive spirit that is required to be an athlete, right? That's what I thought - until I was introduced to Ron Lyons Ultimate Body Studios. A few years ago I was working 60+ hours a week with 3 children and a husband on a 12 month job assignment in India. I was exhausted, had gained some weight from poor eating choices and wanted to find some ""me"" time. I was looking at a finding a personal trainer at the Y until someone told me about UBS. Quite honestly, it was kind of an impulse move but I signed the contract, showed up for my first day and only then did I realize what I had gotten myself into. I committed to give them 20 weeks of my life and in return, Ron and his trainers committed to hold me accountable, cheer me on when I thought I couldn't do one more rep and most importantly, remind me that I am worth it. They taught me how adapt healthy eating into my busy work day with proper planning and in return I got stronger physically and mentally and without even realizing it, I became an athlete. I was still working 60+ hours a week but when I wasn't working I was running in local events and cycling with my daughter. Before I knew it I was in Washington DC with my brother running the Army 10 Miler and training for a 100 mile Century ride and I owe it all to Ron Lyons Ultimate Body Studio. On one of my training rides last year I had a crash and serious injury to my arm that required 2 plates and 14 screws to repair. I had 6 months of rigorous PT to regain the use of my arm and I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that I would not be where I am today - back at Ron Lyons Ultimate Body Studios at 100% - without the confidence I gained through the program. No excuses - just hard work - and quite honestly, the best part of my day! The only thing I would change about my experience at UBS is an opportunity to hang out with my fellow UBS classmates when not dripping with sweat ... I wonder if we would even recognize each other! :) more

Are you dedicated? 1/21/2012

Ron Lyons Ultimate Body is not just a gym to workout and be social. It is a gym that holds you accountable and pushes you to the next level. I ask you, name one gym that does this? If you are like me, you cannot come up with one because there is not one. I played college softball and know what it is like to be pushed. However; once college was over, I needed a facility with employees and like members that had same goals as I did?to get results. Not only do the trainers push you to the next level but your classmates do as well. You are held accountable for what you eat (it is NOT a fad diet!) and pushed daily in cardio and weight training classes. Previous posts from the weak hearted said poor things about Ultimate Body. I can tell you that in order to accomplish your goals here, you have to be dedicated. Those who are not willing to put in the effort and are looking for a social scene, go somewhere else. I can speak this as a client AND as a trainer. I had such great success with my 20 week program, I got CERTIFIED at Cooper Institute as a Personal Trainer and I am now training along Ron and Corey living my dream. I challenge you to the 20 week. Are you up for it? more

Finally... A program that works 10/29/2011

If you are looking to be pushed to your limits but definately get resutls. Then here is the place. If you follow what they say and put the hard work into it, you will definatley get what you want out of it. Ron knows his stuff and is will to help you get there. He actually came and spoke to my health classes abotu food and nutrition. So as you see also willing to help our kids make right choices so they dont have to see him later in life!!!!!! more

Waste of Money 10/25/2011

I signed up for this program a few months ago. I've lost about 20 pounds, but that had nothing to do with Ron, it had everything to do with Corey. Corey is an amazing trainer with a great personality and he really cares about you. With that said, this gym is ridiculous. I was told in the beginning of the course that any missed classes that were excusable would be added on to the end of your course. When I tried to talk to Ron about that, he got very defensive and in my face about how that has even been a practice of UB and if I wanted a makeup class, that was what Saturday was for. I was told Saturday was an extra class they offered for people who wanted an extra kick. He also has no constant payment and keeps putting other members on secret diets. I know that two of the members in another class our now on the Atkins diet. Ron is just a shameful man with horrible business practices and if you say anything to him, or ask him any questions, he will bite your head off. more

This gym is awful 10/25/2011

The gym is small, dirty and most of the equipment is broken or taped together. I was on a bike when one of the pedals came off. That was three weeks ago and the bike still hasn't been fixed. People have fallen off bikes where the seat has come loose. Ron has multiple trainers that work for him and only one is certified. I've heard nothing but horror stories from other members about the treatment they've received from Ron. He's constantly asking us to promote this business for him. Well here you go, Ron. If you want a small, filthy gym with an owner who doesn't care and never shows up on time, then join here. Flush your money down the drain! If you work out hard, and follow the program (which looks suspiciously like the South Beach Diet), you'll lose weight. But you could easily save yourself a ton of money and grief and go somewhere else. more

This program ROCKS! But it's not for the weak minded... 10/17/2011

This is my second time around doing this program (couldn't complete the first one cause I got pregnant). I have been at it 8 weeks and have lost almost 7% body fat. It trains you not only to exercise and eat properly but also to control emotional eating and be completely disciplined about your weight loss. The routines are challenging and fun as well as self motivating. more

Best Workout Experience Ever! Results to Prove it! 10/15/2011

I have to say I've been to many Gyms and Fitness clubs and none have given me the results and knowledge that I have gained at Ron Lyons Ultimate Body Studio. I've done all the diets you can think of and worked out in all the gyms but at UBS its how it gets done. I've gone from 36% Body Fat to 19% in 5 months with incredible results. The workouts are never boring as there is new challenge everytime. Ron and his instructors are as committed trainers as I've ever met. They don't take lame excuses and tell you how it is which is exactly what I needed and anyone who's been struggling to get fit needs. A nice kick in the butt. The gym is exactly what a gym should be have the tools you need to reach your goals. I was a member of a spa/fitness club in Plano which was all for show and paid 1000 for a personal trainer for 1 month! I was stupid. Lost 2 pounds. I could have done this for 1 year. So if you are thinking about it. Do it! Call me and I'll share my story with you. 972-567-9442. more

OMG Nasty, Unsanitary... 10/8/2011

I too was foolish enough to join this so called gym. It is the most nasty, unsanitary business I have ever been to.The owner Ron Lyons does not care about the cleanliness of this place and is proud of the nasty conditions and will tell you so . Ron himself is immature, insecure and ignorant . Ron treats his customers like dirt he sees himself as a mesiah, it's really frightening his attitude. You will get results anywhere if you work out 5 or 6 days a week ,so please go to another facility where can workout in a clean safe enviroment where you will not be in danger of contracting a disease and will NOT be humilated, belittled told you are fat ,lazy and stupid on a daily basis. So if you are in shape or just getting up the courage to go to a gym please go somewhere else I do not want anyone else to be treated like this or have to attend a filthy gym.I truly feel bad for the people who have finally find the courage to to look for help and walk into a gym and made the mistake of going to this place they are so humilated and berated they only last a few days.A trainer who is paid a lot of money should motivate, encourage more

Need to Step it Up in the Customer Service Department 9/21/2011

First let me say that I'm sure Ron will read this review and know exactly who I am. At any rate, let me go into detail about my experience in dealing with him. I had contacted him via email and he was very responsive and mentioned that he would either call me, or that I could call him. After 4 voicemail messages to him over a 2 week period, he finally called me back. At that point, I had decided to go with another local facility. I told him that I wanted to share with him why I had decided to go with another facility. I mentioned his slow response time and his words to me started with ""when you're as good as we are..."" basically making an excuse as to why he had not returned my calls in a more timely manner. I also mentioned the negative reviews on here and he once again said ""when you're as good as we are..."" and said something about the competition getting on here and making negative comments about him. Well let me say that yes, there's a chance that some of the negative reviews could be from the competition. But, I believe that the majority of the negative reviews are legitimate customer concerns. He should have just issued a simple ""I'm sorry"" instead of boasting about how great he is. Needless to say, I'm sure his workouts are great, but with that said, I think Ron needs to step it up in the customer service department. more

RON IS A JOKE 9/2/2011

First of all folks, dont be fooled by these fake ass 5 star reviews. Ron posted them himself....the avatars are straight from microsoft windows and all sound the same.....hence it's Ron. The dates are all within a few weeks. He is going in there every day or every other day and making posts about himself because he is a royal douche and desperate for business. Join this and you will regret it! GOOD LUCK! more

Want results and not Excuses? 8/25/2011

If you want to be coddled, and treated with kid gloves because your sensitive, this isn't your gym. The workout routine at UBS is about responsibility in every aspect of your life. Your diet, your workouts, your intensity, and your agreements to pay the man for his time and education. I did my research on Ron before starting, and he's everything that I read. Knowledgable, helpful, and willing to answer questions. He's also not willing to let me fail without giving me some grief about it...thats his job. If your looking for someone to smile at you all the time, and tell you your doing great, when your intensity sucks, or you don't show up...this isn't the place for you. I also read somewhere that one of the other reviewer's like more amenites at his gyms? Nothing against the big chains like LIfetime etc. but the people who seriously are working out there...you dont' see them in the sauna, or in the hot tub....thats not working out folks. Intensity is everything. more

Disappointing 5/4/2011

I went to Ron thinking he would be able to challenge me and keep me in shape but once I signed his Ultimate-binding contract, his attitude changed. At first I was enjoying myself but then my financial situation changed and I was not able to make the classes. When I called Ron he told me that there was no way he would let me out of my contract and that if I stopped making payments he would be sure to take me to court and sue me. I was told I was a failure and irresponsible for not being able to show up even though it was due to work. He constantly gave negative reinforcement and talked down to me. Towards the end of my contract I called him to make sure the payments would stop and instead of telling me I needed to sign a 30-day notice he asked me why I was leaving and how had he not been helpful. Before I could respond I was met with anger and defensiveness. When I did start to speak he again interrupted me so I told him I would tell him if he stopped interrupting; however, he was not happy that I had a backbone and could stand up to him and he hung up on me. Not very professional considering this is his business. I liked most of the other trainers so this rating is not towards them, only towards Ron and his business. I wish things would have worked out differently but negativity seems to be more of Ron's better personality traits more

A Bit of A Bully, But Results Despite Bad Practices 9/9/2010

My husband and I signed up for the 90 day program together. In our initial consultation I expressed that I didn't like being yelled at or shamed, that rather than motivating I found those types of behaviors demoralizing. Working out is a challenge for me and in order to succeed I knew that I needed to eliminate roadblocks (like feeling ""too fat to go to the gym""). Ron enthusiastically assured us that he creates a team spirit and though he wouldn't ""hand hold"" us while we made bad choices, he wasn't going to be mean or make fun of us, etc. I think it was my third day of class when my husband and I showed up early and were waiting around to get on an exercise bike. Apparently there was a woman in the class before us who hadn't come for several days and who had reappeared that afternoon. Ron told her that next time she didn't come he was going to punish someone else. Who did he pick? Why, ME of course, the girl who told him that being picked on would make me avoid classes! He asked me if I could do push-ups and I said, ""I used to be able to but I doubt I can now"" so he had me come in front of the class and try. I fell on my face a few times before he told me to stop. He then promised me and the woman he'd make me do push-ups in front of the class each time she didn't show. The woman wasn't even on my ""team"" as she was with the class before mine. I felt near tears. I dreaded the next class fearing that I would be humiliated for something beyond my control. I was having a hard enough time controlling my own behavior and didn't like feeling responsible for someone else's as well. I sent Ron and e-mail explaining all this and his reply was ""Well, she'll come, so don't worry about it."" This was not a satisfactory response to me. I started to worry so much about being further singled out (I am pretty self conscience and worried I'd cry if asked to stand in front of the class again) that I stopped going. I saw that the other people at Ron's gym were getting results, however if your weight is linked with emotional stuff I suspect his program won't help that much and that his attitude may indeed make things worse. I felt like I'd signed up to be trained by my middle school bully, who thought any behavior was acceptable as long as I was getting results. When I stopped going due to a conflict with his style and personality Ron also refused to stop charging us. I learned a valuable lesson about prepaying for things. In the end I paid $3000 for some good instruction on workout practices and to be shamed for being out of shape in the first place. Not a very good deal for me, but GREAT for Ron. more

Ultimate Kick in the Butt! 8/13/2010

Ron Lyons' Ultimate Body Studio has changed my life...twice! I started his program back in 2005. In just 4 short months I had met all of my weightloss goals and then some! My body was everything I had every dreamed it could be, but better. I knew if I followed the program, my body would change, but I had never thought about the mental aspect of physical health. Ron helped me get my head in the right place as well. more

Bring your A Game 8/12/2010

I needed to join a program in fall, and had to be in shape. I joined Ultimate Body and in 60 days not only exceeded the requirements to be in the progam, but also lost 13 percent body fat ( 20 percent to 7 percent), and I have gained incredible strengh and muscle. I am still currently enrolled and have accomplished many other goals set forth thanks to ultimate body studios. more

Great place to get back in shape 8/10/2010

I've been working out at the Ultimate Body Studios for 7 weeks and lost 30 pounds. This program has worked great for me and has so far exceeded my expectations for weight loss. The personal trainers are awesome and really help me stay motivated and they continue to teach me new techniques that are helping me accomplish my weight loss goals. Ron Lyons has put together a great program for getting someone in shape. The amount of time I'm getting to work out with the personal trainers is far less expensive then other gyms I have worked out at in the past. I've tried lots of different diets and would usually stick to them for a couple of weeks before I crashed and put the weight I had loss right back on. With the accountability and everything I've learned about nutrition with the Ultimate Body Studios program I'm really confident this time it is coming off for good. I would recommend this program to anyone. Jeff P more

Best program -Best Staff ever 8/8/2010

This program is amazing. Ron's knowledge is bar none the strongest in nutrition science, exercise physiology, discipline and motivational techniques of anyone you will ever meet. His ability to apply and customize the program to individual needs is like no other. No, the program is not easy, but you learn techniques that will last you your lifetime. And yes, the program is for everyone and anyone, young or old, large or small, completely out of shape or already fit and wanting to get fitter. more
