Avoid this place at all costs!!! To avoid the hostile owners!!!! 8/27/2012

You Can Check In - But You Can’t Stay – and…. No Refund! Avoid this place at all costs, too avoid the hostile owners! There is a sign under the doorbell “Directions for guests only”. That was the first hint! Reservations were made for my family of 4. We frequent Lake Wallenpaupack, usually staying at our Aunts cabin. This trip we wanted a little something different for one night of our weekend stay. The Tuck Em Hotel seemed to have it Swimming. Last minute we were pleased to hear my nice would be joining us. Upon registering and signing in the registration papers ask # of guests. I filled it out auto pilot - 4 (being the size of my family). WOW, was that a mistake. Just as we step in the room the (wife) owner was at the door (we didn’t even have a chance to close) with the registration paper in her hand, yelling at me, “saying we have a problem”. I attempted to apologize and pay for the 5th person explaining I registered auto pilot. She would not stop talking (aka yelling, ranting, raving) over everything I tried to say. She said the only option was to purchase an additional room. Swimming wasn’t worth and additional $150.00, so my husband & I continued to try to get a word or two in between her belligerence….. she just kept on ranting “Leave! Your Not Welcome! You lie!, what are you teaching your children”. We said we would keep the number of people to 4 (knowing we could go to our Aunt house). “ NOPE! Leave, you are not welcome”. We are now joined by her compatible (irate) husband. Who chest bumped my husband. WHO DOES THAT! At this point, we just wanted a refund, minus our deposit (We thought that was fair). NOPE! The husband owner indigently says “It’s a privilege to stay at their hotel and we are no longer welcome” We call the police, in hopes they can mediate and we get a refund. Its civil, so they can’t. (But our bank did help us with a fraudulent charge claim). Owners are Crazy! more

poor value/bad experience 11/3/2011

Our room was clean but for $86 a night there are much better values. No coffee machine or coffee available, no phone in room, and we found the owners rude and unprofessional. I have been reading other reviews that have been posted over the years and while the stories are different there's a common denominator of belligerent and confrontational owners who have very poor communication skills. Unfortunately I'm finding that the most negative reviews are filtered out from some of the websites so the ratings are scewed high and don't represent the especially bad experiences such as we unfortunately had with them. I'm not vindictive but I really have a need to get the word out there so others don't have a miserable experience too. Thanks for the opportunity to share and we discourage others from choosing this establishment more

Depends on what you're looking for... 7/9/2010

Good: They have one room that sleeps 5 people (2 full and 1 twin) which worked out well for our family since we have 3 kids. The kids LOVED the indoor pool. We chuckled when they said they have a light show at night but the kids wanted to see it. I have to admit we were pleasantly surprised. The kids rocked out with disco lights and water coming down from the ceiling and other surprises.. Bad: It's owned by a very nice family, but they are a bit nit-picky. We couldn't get a few buckets of ice because "if everyone did that they would use up too much ice". When have you ever had a problem getting ice at a hotel? They seem to be pretty worn down from the handful of people that try to take advantage of businesses so now they're a little over zealous. Also, the towels were really lame. There were 5 of us in our room, yet they only left 3 towels every day and they are those really small, thin ones. Improvements: Anything in the rooms would be good. They clearly sank a buch of money into the pool, but nothing has been done to the rooms. The beds are small (more than enough from for queens instead of full beds) and are extremely soft and bouncy. Everything looks original, like carpet and bathrooms. It would have been nice if they had turned the window air conditioner on before we got there since it was 100 degrees outside. Took forever for the room to cool down.. Other: I also had called ahead of time to ensure there was a small fridge avail in the room since I have medication that has to be refridgerated. I explained this to them and they said yes, the room has a fridge. I was frustruated when I got there to find out they leave it unplugged so I had to plug it in and wait for it to chill. I would have expected it to already be plugged in, especially since they knew I had medication that required it. $ was way too much for value because it was peak summer.. more

Great place to stay 1/25/2010

My family and I recently stayed at the Tuck-em Inn. The motel is really nice and clean and the Indoor pool is awsome. My children loved it there so much that they keep asking when we can go back, though next time I might leave them at home and get a jacuzzi room for just my husband and myself. I asked to see it during my stay and It is very nice. It is not like some hotels that say they have a jacuzzi and it is just a bathtub in the bathroom. This jacuzzi is in the room and you can fit two people. Just writing about it makes me want to call and make a reservation. more

Indoor pool! 9/4/2009

No frills 8/25/2005

This is a no-frills, one level motel located within a few miles of Lake Wallenpaupack. The prices are more reasonable than others in the area, but they don't have many ammenities or a view of the lake that other hotels have. It is popular in the wintertime for hunters, during this time they have more specials. It is a good place to stay if you don't care about a fancy arrangement while you are on vacation. Relatively clean, everything you need in a hotel room, however nothing more. If you are looking for something more special, look down the road at the hotels across from the lake. more
