Tropical Waters Spa & Salon

I am new to the area and really wanted to find the right stylist and salon the first time I went for a service. Instead of just going into next salon I saw, I decided to do some research and on City-Search and found the recommendations for this salon to be very high. I booked my appointment for Nora through Andreas (who was very friendly and accomodating). Nora was exactly the type of stylist I like-very talented and confident. She would ask for my opinion but if when I was unsure she knew what to do to make me look great. She gave very good advice about how to bring my hair back to life and she told me things about the products that I had been using that I never heard. I took her advice and the results have been great. I am pleased with my color and the cut is exactly like the picture I brought in ---I can't say enough they are fabulous--oh and by the way if your looking for a manicure and pedicure from a REAL salon Oki is awesome. My experience at Tropical was wonderful. I called on a Saturday afternoon to get a hair cut/color and they didn't have anyone at the time, but they called and found a stylist available willing to come in and work with me. Sydney was the Stylist and she is awesome. She is very professional and attentive to one's needs and looks. I recommend it to anyone; I'm taking my daughter to her too! more

I visited the salon at Tropical Waters for the second time this week. My hairstylist was Nora, and she was absolutely amazing. My hair was suffering from a summer of rough treatment, and she was frank but honest about the state I had it in. It was great to have a hairstylist willing to offer a knowledgeable, professional opinion. Part of being a professional is being an expert in your craft, and I would readily vouch for Nora's expertise after just one haircut. She was friendly and sweet. I felt comfortable and at ease the entire time I was in her hands. It was a welcome change from other salons, where you may be in for a surprise when the hairstylist puts the scissors down. There are not enough positive words to say when it comes to Sidney's style of hair cutting - she makes me feel like whole new woman! Once you've had a hair style done by her, take my word - you won't want or need to go anywhere else. Never before have I ever had men, woman ask me about my cut and style. I never hesitate to share my great experience with Sidney to anyone that asks. She will give you a style that will make you appreciate being a woman at any age. I am happy to recommend this Salon, and more specifically Sidney Marquez, who has done wonders to my hair for the last 5 years. As a Salsa Instructor, and part time actress and model, I have very high standards of how my hair is treated, and what kind of experience I have regarding customer service and the vibe of the place. I commute sometimes up to an hour and a half out of my way, in traffic, to go to Tropical Waters and have Sidney work on my hair, using only the finest products for enduring color and maintenance of healthy hair. The salon itself always has a friendly and relaxing atmosphere every time I have an appointment, even with the different people I've seen working different shifts. I'm always greeted quickly upon arrival, offered a refreshing beverage, and enjoy the serenity of the atmosphere with the light wood floors, buttercream color paint, soft lighting, comfortable chairs, and minimal noise level. See for yourself and don't forget to have Sidney take care of you, she is the best! I guarantee you will walk out a different, happier person than when you walked in. I heard about Tropical Waters through a friend, and decided to try it out. Nora was incredible. She was very attentive and gave me a glass of wine to relax. Upon entering Tropical Waters, I felt like I was away from the world and in a tranquil and luxurious atmosphere. The decor is modern but elegant. I have been a customer of Nora (Sevaslian) for ten years and this is by far the best place she has been in. As far as Nora, my hair stylist, I call her "The Miracle Worker." I have extremely difficult hair to work with, plus extensions which most stylists are very afraid of. Nora is the only stylist that has been able to make my hair truly stylish and beautiful. She is not only extremely talented and creative, but will be candid and tell you what is best for your hair. She has truly tranformed my hair and I would not dream of going to any other stylist. more

Thank- you Tropical Waters! At last we have a cutting edge salon in the South Bay area. The moment I walked in there was a professional staff , yet with a completely relaxing atmosphere. Not overdone.Everything is beautiful here. I heard about "Nora" from several international flight attendants that fly in just for her. I thought my hair color worked for me. It was great to have a talented hair stylist , tell me honestly but with integrity that my hair was NOT right. Nora fixed it. Tropical waters is under new ownership, and has been completely renovated. Flat out it is the most beautiful, luxurious spa and salon in the south bay. The salon is now being run by Nora and she heads up a staff of amazing stylists. The esthetitians and massage therapists are outstanding. I cant say enough about this place, it is PARADISE! Three words for Hush Salon - Disappointing & over priced! The girls were rude and unfriendly and my haircut and color were at best marginal! Went to Tropical Waters Spa in Hermosa Beach and had the most pleasant experience! From my first initial phone call to the most amazing precision haircut and color by Linda! Linda took all the time needed to discuss my likes and dislikes, she did a perfect job on my hair color and the correction from Hush Salons enormous errors!! I have been going to Tropical Waters for a few years now and have always been very happy with all of my services. Now that they are under new management thinga are only getting better! As an admited spa junkie I am always looking for pampering. I was hesitant to try a place that had rubbed me the wrong way some months back. However, after hearing they were under new managment, I thought worst case scenerio I don't dare go back again. I was amazed, first of all many renovations had been done to the facilities, it was a well needed face-lift. The receptionist was not only extremly friendly but she also had a great sense of humor!!! The facilities were equipped with a steam room which I thoroughly enjoyed prior to my facial. Ahh the facial, can I say loves it!!!! Not only were the extractions relativly painless, but the warm bed and hand/foot/shoulder/neck massage during my mask weren't bad either. I left glowing refreshed and suprised. What an improvement!!! I know I will be back!!!!! Pros: steam room, showers all the amenities. easy parking and great service!!! Cons: should provide more products for client use in womens spa. more

I am intrigues to use the spa. The waiting room by itself was tranquile and inviting. With little to go on, the stylist gave my hair some great body and a cut that was stylish and fit perfectly with my face. The color was right on as well. The customer service in general could use some work and it was a bit on the pricey side...but I look hot. So job overall was well done. more

Went to Tropical Waters looking for a way to unwind from the million stresses that come along with being a bride. I LOVED it! Racquel was the sweetest and did an amazing job on my facial. I have been to Tropical Waters before and the service was always good (not outstanding). They must have changed management recently because they now have poor customer service and inexperienced staff. For the price you pay at this place, where the quality is now actually less than average, I do not recommend going here. Just spent 4 luxurious hours here over the weekend and what a great way to spend them! Tried the Indonesian body mask with a shiatsu massage and eminence facial.
