The Scene
This nonprofit opened in 1992 and features language- and literature-themed exhibits that incorporate hands-on learning for children ages 2-12. Areas are set off by scenery and objects related to the space's specific subject; the Treehouse Treasure Shop carries souvenirs so visitors can keep learning long after they leave the museum.
The Collection
Kids love to act out characters elicited from plenty of props, whether it's a clerk at the Mercantile or a medieval king or queen in the Days of the Knights exhibit. It's a perfect spot for pretend play. In addition to the exhibits, the museum hosts frequent story times and art activities. Visitors can grind corn and weave cloth at the Native Peoples of Utah exhibit or learn about classic stories through activities like attempting to pull King Arthur's sword from a stone. Special age-specific events are also held weekly.
