What a BAD restaurant! 2/7/2009

DISAPPOINTING IS NOT A STRONG ENOUGH ADJECTIVE FOR OUR EXPERIENCE. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS TERRIBLE RESTAURANT CAN STAY OPEN. DO THE OWNERS OF PLANET HOLLYWOOD KNOW HOW AWFUL TRADER VICS IS??? NOTHING WAS GOOD - FOOD, WATERED DOWN ""TROPICAL"" DRINKS, STUPID, POORLY TRAINED STAFF, AND THE OVERPRICED AND OVERCOOKED FOOD. LAS VEGAS PROBABLY HAS A FEW THOUSAND RESTAURNTS BETTER THAN THIS. PREDICTION: OUT OF BUSINESS IN FOUR MONTHS. Pros: WE SURVIVED! Cons: BAD FOOD, DRINKS, SERVICE....OVERPRICED more

we hated it!!! 1/31/2009

My dad said that Trader Vics was one of his faves in California in the seventies, so we decided to eat here. To cut this short, it was horrible. Bad food, watered down drinks, a staff that is lackadaisical and untrained, and very expensive. There was no Hawaiian or tropical atmosphere at all. ANY restaurant would have been better. Pros: You're kidding! Cons: Bad food, bad drinks, staff untrained and slackers, overpriced. more

So Bad it was seriously funny! 1/29/2009

OMG, this place hits on all the BAD cylindars... If being bad was an art form, this would be a Monet or Picasso! The place has this great, Home Run of a patio location, so you have to think the food, drinks and service will be equally good, right? Wrong. All are a ""Home Run of Badness"" - if that's even a word, and if it's not a word, it fits this location perfectly. Trader Vics used to be known for cool drinks, so I thought there would be this cool vibe with great drinks by people who understood what a great drink is... not so much.\r Since the lowest Star Rating you may give is a 1 Star, I'll sleep well by letting them have this since their patio location is great. Oh, and the food... I'd rather starve on an Island and resort to canibalism - at least you'd know what to expect. Staff - weak, at best. You have to wonder if there are hidden cameras to catch your reaction on tape to how bad it is. Pros: The patio is a good location with cool view Cons: Everything else - AND it's expensive! more

truly a waste of money 1/24/2009

Not at all what we thought. No Hawaiian abbiance. Way way overpriced. The entire staff was dull and unenthusiastic. There are 2,000 restaurants in Vegas, and no reason at all to eat here. I can't believe Planet Hollywood lets this restaurant use their space! Pros: ???? Cons: ambiance, staff, food. more

Bad Food and they don't care about you!! 1/24/2009

We had Christmas dinner there. We were told that the entire menu was available, but found that it was a small buffet only. It was Christmas Day, so we could not leave and find another restaurant. The food was worse than the old Surf Buffet. There was dry turkey, well-done, dry prime rib, and pumpkin pie which looked like it was bought at a supermarket, and not even whipped cream for a topping. (coffee for our tasteless pie was an additional charge). This awful meal cost us over $100. No apologies, and no one even said goodbye to us as we left. When I wrote their home office to tell them about our experience, no one even responded. This restaurant bears no relation to the Trader Vics we used to frequent in California twenty years ago. In seven years living in Las Vegas, this was the worst restaurant experience we have had. THEY DON'T CARE! Cons: Bad food, uncaring staff. more

Best atmospher, service and food! 4/23/2008

Trader Vic's was absolutely awesome! I went on a Thursday evening with a few of my friends, we enjoyed the food, drinks, music and the weather. The patio was like a dream come true! all around, this was a gread experience! Pros: atmosphere, food, drinks Cons: n/a more

Good service, good drinks, great location 3/29/2008

We went around 1am on a Sunday morning (Saturday night). There were plenty of people on the patio, but it wasn't packed. After about 5 minutes, we got a seat at the counter overlooking the strip. There were heaters on since it was a cool evening and the view was great. Good people watching. Our server was really cool. She let us order two drinks each at last call and brought them to us 10 minutes apart so they weren't watered down. We had a big drink first-the kind you share. It was okay-nothing to write home about. I then ordered a vodka Mai Tai. It was quite tasty. I had two more actually. By this point, I was feeling good to say the least. We didn't eat so I can't speak on the food, but it's a cool place to hang out and drink. Pros: Good service, good drinks, great location for people watching Cons: Not many seats at the counter more

Disappointing 3/22/2008

The food was good, but pretty pricey for what you get. Also, the waitress asked us what kind of water we wanted without giving us the option of tap water. We ended up getting charged $10 for a regular bottle of Fiji water (like the water bottle you buy at the store). It cost more than our beer and my Mai Tai!!! I hate when waitresses ask you if you want something, but don't tell you it'll be an additional charge especially when it's that ridiculous.\r \r The Mai Tai was pretty strong, but it had a TON of ice. I was pretty disappointed---I had expected a lot more. Pros: Location, not super loud like some places Cons: Ridiculous prices ($10 for water?!); pricey for what you get more

Can I give this spot zero stars? ...It's that bad! 2/22/2008

Where do I start because every aspect of this place is bad. \r They should shut it down, redesign and start over as a brand new concept - leaving Trader Vics where it belongs - in the past.\r We thought it would be an upbeat, cool, fun atmosphere with good food and great drinks. Ahhh - wrong!\r No vibe. You could baaaarely hear any music and the lighting was too bright. The host staff is without a heartbeat which coincides with the rest of the space.\r The crowd was non-exsistent as there were barely any people in the restaurant or on the patio. The people that were there were VERY lame. The staff, when you could find them, were really lame too. They had the energy level of people sleeping and were about as interested in working as I'd be watching paint dry. The knowledge of the staff was non-exsistent also. When asked about the food, they didn't know some things and appeared to guess at others without confidence. \r Most comical of all was when we were at the bar. We ordered what Trader Vics claims they invented, the Mai Tai. The bartender seemed to be stumped and then threw something together which didn't taste too tropical. I asked the barkeep how to make their claim to fame cocktail and he didn't know. I actually felt bad for the dude, but then when I saw my bill, I no longer had any remorse.\r The food, from apps to entrees to desserts were, at best, fair, with some of the food being down right bad.\r We walked upstairs to an empty lounge. We had asked several staff members what the deal was upstairs and they all had different answers - none too positive.\r Seems like Trader Vics has a lot to change or they will fail and fail quickly.\r It's strange because you would think anyone could build a good business with such a great location, but they have proved this to be untrue.\r Zero Stars from this person,.. unless I could go lower.\r Cheers. Pros: Location. Cons: Everything Else. more

Horrible Service All Around 1/20/2008

I dined at Trader Vics on a slow week night. Our waitress was the worst waitress I have ever had on the strip. First off it took forever to place all orders, drinks, apps and entrees. She recommended a dish for my entree and it was horrible, Noodles were under cooked, chicken was dry. When I told her about the dish she did not offer to take it away nor did she ask me if I would like to try something else. Instead she just laughed and said yeah it's a little different huh? Duck tacos were hard and cut the roof of my mouth. The food was horrible, the service was horrible. It's hard to say that I would ever step foot in this restaurant or recommend it to anyone. Pros: Friendly Bartenders Cons: Horrible Table Service, Horrible Food more
