Ordinarily I’m very happy with TMI, but not in this case. A simple toilet tank valve replace job ended up costing $180 plus the $75 trip fee. The $180 was a standard job fee and did not take into account the specifics of my valve replacement. The plumber was at my house for 20 minutes. I would have been happy to pay the $180, although I feel that is too much for such a simple repair, but to also pay the “trip/diagnose” fee on top of that is too much. In fairness to TMI I did receive 20% off after explaining my concern with the charge. That was nice. However, the reason I was given the discount was because of my usage of TMI in the past. The service manager felt the $250 charge (20 minutes of work mind you) was fair. That being the case TMI has priced themselves out of my comfort zone. The guy that did the work actually installed a water heater at our old house. Honestly, this gentleman is great. Knowledgeable, nice, and prepared. He is the reason I’m coming back for more service. When we get our water softener in March sometime, I’ll request he does the install. more
