Best

I love all sushi, but I especially love Toro Sushi. i usually just come with a friend or two, but I always see large groups here, which is actually kind of unique for a sushi pla...

Worst

The sushi here is at about par the few times I've been, but don't bother with their attempt at being an after hours ""hot spot."" At night TORO tries to assume a night club feel ...

Great Sushi!!!! 4/23/2006

We drove from West LA to Chino because this place was highly recommended. Let's just say the drive was worth it. The diablo sushi was fantastic and the service was superb. more

Nice Sushi Restaurant 4/16/2006

I was seated at the sushi bar, the chef wasn't like traditional Japanese sushi chef; not very eager to help you but have a little attitude. I ordered some uni, sweet shrimp, toro yet and the quality is good, but you get what you pay for. The presentation of the food is very nice too. Waitress should be a little more attentive such as refill my tea with hot water? The food is good overall. Pros: sushi, food Cons: attitude more

Best Sushi I have had 4/5/2006

HAve the sushi chef make his special roll, not on the menu. It is a roll wrapped in cucumber, the cucumber special roll. He called it a Ferrari! It was more than that! An absolute flavor explosion in your mouth. Have it last, for anything you eat after it will be a disappointment and nothing in this restaurant should be a disappointment. I will be back. I read some folks travel 120 miles for this place, I'll travel from the east coast to eat her again! Highly recommend, it is outstanding! Pros: excellent sushi, price=value, best I've had more

Toro Sushi has MOVED!! City Search Update your files! 3/11/2006

My wife and I have been sushi connoisseurs for almost the entire 10 years we have been married. We have eaten Sushi in probably 100 different Sushi joints in 3 countries. We usually start with a California Roll with roe. The taste of this roll determines what we will order. If the roll is good, then we try almost everything we like. After tasting the California Roll at this Sushi Bar, we were amazed at how tasty it was. We ordered Salmon, Yellow Tail, Toro, and Ono among others. I am not sure about the spelling of Ono, but it is a white fish that melts in your mouth. We would go there every day but we live 120 miles away in the high desert. If you like raw fish type sushi that is fresh and consistent, you must try Toro Sushi. You wont be disappointed. Pros: Clean, Fresh Sushi, Friendly more

Over-rated 3/8/2006

Ive read a lot of the reviews before I decided to venture out to Toro Sushi. To my surprise, this place did NOT live up to the hype. If you're not a regular, you won't get the extra special treatment. I noticed the regulars getting free sashimi and what not on the house, while my friend and I get sashimi that is thinly sliced, and rolls that are cut super thin. They get the good reviews from the regulars, plus no one from Chino wants to drive out to LA for sushi so they just settle. People who really know their sushi knows that LA/Pasadena has the best sushi without giving up an arm and a leg. more

I love Toro! 2/9/2006

I have been going to Toro now for quite some time, sometimes every week sometimes only every couple months. Never changes, it's always just as good. Once you get to know the staff, you'll be stuck there. Not only is the sushi incredibly delicious but the people are impossible to beat. Sometimes the food does take awhile to make, but when you see what they bring you there is no question why. It is pricey but even on my meager budget I make a point to go in and see everyone whenever I can. I can't recommend any restaurant higher than Toro, and they are moving soon to an even bigger and better location! Sake bombs all around! Pros: Food, People, Service more

BOMB SUSHI 12/25/2005

Toro is one of the classiest restaurants I have ever been to. Those three bad reviews are just cheap people who like TODAI better because its a buffet and is cheap. TORO sushi are for the classy people who are not afraid to splurge on their wallet a little to get a really good meal and have a good time. If you want to be cheap and spend on a limitdont go to TORO. It may cost a lot but its worth it. I realized the people who go to TORO are CLASSY, ELEGANT, and GREAT people.Three bad reviews. Come on. They just complain about waiting? People are busy. Just wait. Sometimes your order may be more difficult to make than others. SO if you want to eat at a nice classy restaurant, try it at least once. Don't knock it til you try it! Pros: service, fresh food, atmosphere Cons: bad parking more

loooooove this restaurant! 10/18/2005

how often is it that you find a sushi restaurant that has good food, fresh sushi, and friendly staff? for me, not that often. toro is a place where you can eat and have a good time doing it. everyone is friendly - from the wait staff to the sushi chefs! they know their stuff! i especially like this restaurant because it's kid-friendly. getting seated is never a problem either; they are very accomodating. Pros: Food, Staff, Sake more

most damn creative rolls i've ever had... 8/3/2005

...even better than the motherland japan herself. yea, that's right! i said it! and i swear by it as a sushi connosieur. as far as the freshness of the fish, i honestly must confess that i've had better...but that's only because it cost me damn near $100 (not including spirits and stuff) just for myself! but for something that's really really...and i mean REALLY COMPARABLE to super freshness that almost came direct from the sea, toro is as good as it gets. the sashimi just melts in your mouth--YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHEW FOLKS! and btw to finish off your meal there, it's all about the LIVE baby crabs... more

Sushi heaven 8/3/2005

Went there with some friends and all I can say is ""WOW!"" I've been to sushi and japanese restaurants all over southern california, but Toro is easily one of the best. The quality of the food was only surpassed by the creativity of the various rolls. Definitely try the Diablo roll and be sure to ask about the mini crabs. Pros: Freshness, Creative Menu more

gotta go here 7/25/2005

never in a million years would i think chino would be a place for great japanese dining. this place has really fresh sushi and some very delicious rolls. you have to get a sashimi salad and also the diablo roll. also try and go on a weekend where live crabs become a specialty especially after a couple shots of sake. Pros: freshness, taste, good parking more

Creative Rolls, Great Service, and Fun Ambience 7/22/2005

The creativity of the sushi roll menu is amazing. Not only are the rolls unique and delicious, but their sashimi is of the highest quality. I have eaten sashimi at many different restaurants. Additionally, I am a fisherman who knows his fish. Hands down, I have never tasted Sashimi that has melted in your mouth like the sashimi at Toro. Furthermore, the staff is friendly and engaging. Great date place and great place to bring your friends. Make a reservation on Fridays as it can get busy. Pros: Good Parking more

The BEST sushi in an unsuspecting place 7/22/2005

WOW WOW WOW! I was shocked to read some of the negative reviews about Toro Sushi. So it's understandable the food ""SOMETIMES"" takes a little long but meeting the sushi guys with great personalities and seeing how much time and effort they put into making their unique rolls is worth every minute of the wait! I've been to Toro a few times and I will be going back for more. The entire staff @ toro always has a smile and the atmosphere is great. Can we say SAKE BOMB? I love it! Do I need to say more? Pros: Great creative food, good entertainment, friendly staff Cons: bigger place needed more

OverratedBig time!!! 7/18/2005

I found Toro Sushi through CitySearch, and too say the least; I was very disappointed at the results. Toro Sushi had high prices for little to no value. I waited nearly an hour to get my sushi rolls, while my udon soup tasted like chicken broth with extra salt. Sushi was small and tasteless. The waiter tried to compensate for the wait by giving us free edamame, but that wasnt enough. I wasn't the only unhappy customer then had, people all around me felt the same way. It makes me wonder if the owners/staff of the restaurants schemed to boost their own ratings. My Advice: Dont try to save gas by going to this place, just make the drive to West LA, Pasadena, or LA for authentic Sushi. Cons: food, service more

Wow! Great Sushi!! 7/18/2005

I serendipitously found Toro Sushi and was most pleasantly surprised at the freshness and quality of the food. The sushi/sashimi is mouth watering and the variety of dishes they have is great! The staff is super friendly and the service was warm and inviting. I'd say that the restaurant was definitely worth the drive and I'm looking forward to trying more of their signature dishes! They've also got a great variety of sakes and a big flat screen TV to catch the games on. Definitely recommended! Pros: Fresh, Inexpensive, Friendly more

Don't go wasting your money 7/12/2005

This sushi joint has one of the worst service I have ever seen. I waited an hour before my sushi rolls were made. A table who was there before me still haven't received their food when I got half of my order. The price was over-priced for what they give you. The sushi rolls are tiny compared to many small sushi joints who make rolls and yet they charge the same price. Go to any other sushi joint other than Toro. Pros: Good Parking, Prompt Seating Cons: Expensive, Long Wait for food more

You Gotta Go!! 6/12/2004

We have been going to Toro for over 2 years. They know us by name and treat us like family. The service is excellent and we always have a great time there!!! Pros: Friendly, fresh sushi, great terayki more

It's a MUST 6/6/2004

I have been eating here for the past few years and I must say everything is fabulous. The food and the people keep me coming back for more...it's quality. No matter if you just want to hang with some friends or come for a celebration, Toro is the place to go for a good time. HAT. more

Sushi is our Little League 6/2/2004

I have to say that Toro is by far my favorite Sushi Bar. Susan and I have made life long friends here and the food is second to none. Watching the experiance grow as the young chefs grow into thier creativity has been a blast. I am not sure what is better, having my old stand-by favorites from the menu or hearing Arron say "" hey Doug I want you to try something I am working on"". Either way I am not disappointed. Need a suggestion on what to try? Ask for Doug and Sue, seats 3 and 4 at the bar. Keep up the excellent work! Love all of you in my AMF. Pros: quality, fun, friendly more

Best Place in Town 6/1/2004

My wife and I will drive 20 miles from our home for Toro Sushi. We have tried many different sushi restaurants locally and far away but none compare to the hospitality, atmosphere and ""the best sushi"" bar none. Alan and Aron are buds and their crew is the best. Angela, Dez, Jan and the rest are simply awesome. Keep up the good work guys and we'll see ya in a days or so. Buddy and Robbin Pros: Inexpensive, atmosphere, best fish inland more
