went there with my husband and our two year old son back in 2001. When it was time for us to pay for our dinner, one girl who worked there, walked my son without my permission to measure his height to see how much to charge us! A two year old does not eat very much, he just picked a little bit of his food and didnt eat and charged us full price! Then i asked the girl what she was doing with my son, she said to see how much to charge, i told her she was NOT TO EVER do that to my son or to any child again, and especially without my consent, and they already charged it on my Mastercard, and the manager had it removed, and apolegized. That was the last time we ever went there to eat seafood. We dine somewere else now. But NEVER again this place! Pros: good food Cons: pricing and customer service more

Buffets are not generally known for their quality, but add in raw fish into the mix and this restaurant takes a rapid downward spiral. Stay away from the sushi.... it might be fresh, but the quality is horrible, and they have no appreciation for the way it should be made. Although the rest of the buffet suffers from the same quality issues, you may be better off sticking to that because at least it's cooked food. I thought I was going to be ill. Pros: A free lunch on your birthday... but go to Denny's if you're that desperite for a free meal Cons: It's easier to list the pros since there's only one... everything else is a con. :-( more

so my boyfriend took me to Todai in San Jose this past weekend and i noticed they changed their look from what i remembered. I haven't been here in months and was pleasantly happy to see that the prices were lower than before. that was nice! There was a new thing called the fresh corner that we tried out of curiosity. We got and order of king crab legs and a lobster and that was awesome! I recommend this to anyone that has lots of people to feed because they have everything you can ask for. P.S. the desserts were great as well! Pros: Fresh Corner Lobster and King Crab Legs more

Todai does not serve outstanding food. Anyone who's been there would agree. However, the lunch prices are worth it (~$12). You get a sushi buffet-not just rolls but nigiri. They go through the sushi so fast on the wknds that it's definitely fresh. They've got a chinese buffet that serves what you'd expect from Chinese take out place. So what? We all crave the greasy stuff sometimes. They have a great crepe bar and dessert bar whici I love. They've got a ramen bar too. Lots of variety. You get what you pay for here. No one goes to a buffet and expects an exquisite meal. I love Todai! Bring your tupperware! Just kidding!!! Pros: value, fresh, variety Cons: greasy, mass prodiced more

Tasty, decent variety, but not delicious 11/14/2002

I left feeling full and satisfied, but in sort of the Fresh Choice kinda way. Full not from fragrant and delicate flavors and creative dishes, but rather from hearty, tasty, though not-very-inspired food. The service was okay, but not particularly exceptional. For instance, though I declined a second tea, another server refilled my tea when I was gone. Also, I had to PAY $1.50 for a teabag and hot water, which I think is pretty cheesy for any asian restaurant. And when my water glass was refilled, it was refilled with sprite - yuck! The sushi itself... not bad, not outstanding. The hot food, though, was more underwhelming than pleasant... rather fatty chicken, greasy/creamy fish, etc. The desserts? About what you'd expect in a buffet-style type place. Cute, tasty, but nothing special. When I'm really hungry, I'll be back to Todai. But I'd never bring visitors or a date here. Pros: Plentiful, good sushi, free parking, desserts included Cons: Hot food not great, service mediocre, tea not included more
