Tisun Beauty Supply

First off ALL stylist BEWARE!!! Do not work for Tisun Salon. The Koreans treat ALL black Employees with NONE to LITTLE respect!! The manager MARIA feels on all of her employees male or female. I have been a victim of hers for over three years including other female stylist she literally sticks her hands down your shirt to fondle your breast she has smacked my bottom ALOT plus other female employees. This type of behavior was never reported because we felt that our job was on the line. Of course you have read all bad reviews on Tisun Salon some where are an exaggeration also some written by the Korean workers themselves!! smh they can't distinguish the difference between loud talking in a salon or just black folk arguing. So they put a sign saying: ""No loud arguing"" there is a African girl that works there doing hair, the Koreans call her Africa! Isn't that racial? Clients get there hair from store because they receive discounts they might want it curled, colored, bleach.. Etc, one customer wanted her hair colored the hai was smoking!!!! Turning clear this was the Virgin unprocessed hair. My client was very upset she asked for money back for the hair she purchased, they refused this was crazy because it was clear that the hair was not fully virgin as the client said this herself. Tommy, another manager who dates all the employees was arguing with the client he walks around Tisun's smoking a electronic cigarette so unprofessional. The story goes on and on. Not to mention Shonda an African American employee is like a uncle tom she works like a slave to the Koreans not to mention, this is how she is treated. No other employee cleans the restroom but her. She was the only black employee of the Tisun store (not salon) for a while. The store and the salon are separate, but why is she the only person cleaning restroom. On Saturdays when she is not there, NO ONE cleans restroom it's Tisun store responsibility to make sure restroom is in order at all times. Not the stylist in the back this was made clear to everyone. NO stylist can assist customers with the professional products. The sign READS: Do not ask stylist for assistance. All products include: Kera Kare, Miziani, Nairobi etc the list goes on.. ALL stylist please BEWARE they refer to black people as dysfunctional cultures!!! This is written on a mass email that Tisun's sent to their customers for their reason of closing the salon. more

Never go here to get your hair styled. The stylist are garbage the only thing that they are capable of is talking trash about everybody. Will never go here again they will tell you that they can do a style and don't even have the proper equipment to even do it. I might have just went on a bad day with the worse two in the shop. Uuuugh just don't do it Please by a wig and leave happy trust me. Will Never ever go back. more

A lot of choices of hair and hair products to choose from. So far they have the largest selection I have found in Charlotte. The prices are reasonable and there is always someone to assist you in finding things. Usually in other stores the employees just stand behind the cash register. The store is a little dark so its hard to see how the color of hair looks in brighter light. Overall though its a good place to check out. more

This store is out of my way butI will come to it because they have just about every type of hair and beauty accessories for every type of hair and skin color. They have always been helpful to me. I will echo what another commentor said....I never FELT like I was being followed because I am never doing anything that would warrent it. HOWEVER, what we should remember also is that there ARE that element of our society that DO shoplift and DO make it bad for the rest of us. I resent it but it happens. Just go in the store, do what you have to do and leave. If however you do feel as though someone is following you unreasonably...don't spend your money there....LEAVE and be done with it. Thats what I do. more

Have been to Tisuns many times. Have never felt like I was being followed. But don't pay attention because know I'm not doing anything wrong. Whenever I need help and checkout, they are pleasant. Like the large selection, but is kind of too much. You can be in there forever trying to find hair/wigs. And honestly the prices are not that competitive. But you can find what you need in one place which makes it worth it. Love their selection of hats. Have gottten some really cute ones this year for under 10 dollars. more

I thought their selection was good but customer service is terrible. I went to buy some human hair extensions and needed help finding the right color. The store is poorly lit which makes shade matching difficult. The employee picked out a color for me. I asked if I could bring it back if it was the wrong shade and she said yes. At home, I removed one of the extensions from the box and saw that it was definitely not the right shade. I then saw on the receipt that they had a strict no refund policy with most of their products. I called the store to explain what happened and asked if I could still bring it back. I was told yes, you can. So I went all the way back to Eastway area to be told that I could neither get a refund nor store credit. I did not think this was fair since it was the employee that picked out the wrong color AND failed to tell me about their no refund policy. more

I am done with Tisun. I will say that they do have a large variety of products but I think thay are so overrated. I am so tired of seeing all these asian owned black beauty supply stores. They know nothing about our hair all they know is enough to get our money. I have natural hair I dont use perms so I like to use natural hair and body products. They don't sell "real" organic stuff. I think that going to a black own hair supply store is best, they may not have all the weave's and wigs but you will get better service, respect and better products. more

One thing that I got to say is that this store is more than wonderful. Has many varieties of products that are appealing to many different people. Employees are always trying their best to help you find what you need if not recommend where to find items that they may not have. Stylists in the store are very helpful and talented. My daughter still remembers the name of her stylist and she is only 4 years old. Check this store out. You won't be disappointed. more

I will never shop with Tisuns again. I bought two pairs of ceramic flat irons and I only had them for two weeks. The cord unit had came apart and scared me, I thought I was going to be electracuted. I took the flat irons back, cause I only wanted an exchange and not the money. When I got there asked me for a reciept and I said that I didn't have it, lucky for me I paid with my visa and could go in my blackberry and pull up my statement on my phone. So when I told him to reference the invoice number on the reciept (I am an Auditor) with my charge from his store, he told me he can't do exchanges and us the warranty. "THERE WERE NO WARRANTIES" My warranty was never in the box, I called home and asked my daughter to look in the other box, and there wasn't one in that one either. Stay in the mind frame ladies and some gentlemen that you are on North Tryon st. and no matter who you are or what color you are whatever store you go into will be watching you like a hawk... Just cause you're black doesn't mean you are being singled out, I've seen many white people as well as a few latinos that come into the store have the same thing happen to them. I frequently visit this store VERY often and they even know me when I come in but they still watch me... that's just how they are and rightfully so with the crime as it is in that neighborhood. Can you blame them for being on edge with the people acting a fool all over the place around there? more

Not worthy of my hard earned money!!! My experience with Tisun is that they are constantly watching the people that shop there (black people), they have absouletly no respect for the money that makes them rich!!!! I saw the shop owners accusing a little girl of taking a headband that I saw her physically come into the store with!!!! One of the owners went as far as to put his hand on her head and ask her did she take the headband!!! I was so upset that I started to argue with the man about it cause the girl was there with her friends and no other parental guidance was with her to help support her!!!!! When I said something to him he got an attitude with me---- This place should not be in business--- we need to ban against this shop and find black owned businesses or just other beauty supply shops in the area that want our money!!~! more

I visited the store on 4/1/10 @ approx 5:45 PM. When I walked in, there were approx 20+ Black ladies shouting & some trying to enter some white double doors behind a cash register. They were saying "let her go" and "let us in to see that she is alright." Some ladies told me that there was a lady in a pink hat that one of the Asian men in the store accused of shoplifting. They said that he struck the lady in the head and forced her into the back room where other Asian people that worked there joined them. The Asian people closed the doors to the room where the lady accused was forced. The ladies in the store said that they heard struggling and that they suspected that the men were beating the lady accused of shoplifting. I saw ladies trying to open the double doors and could see that someone on the other side of the doors were preventing them from opening. An Asian man emerged from another door to the same room and started screaming very emotionally at the crowd. I couldn't unders more

There is no store with the variety that Tisun has. The wig prices are reasonable as I have checked the internet prices. They are in fact a little lower at Tisun. It is a huge store. Okay I give it to you maybe they don't know all the products but people read the label. It is no rocket science. There are stylist that can answer your questions if you approach with with manners. Their english is fine and who else is providing you with such a wide variety. you can also try on wigs with the purchase of a wig cap and receive a $2 off coupon. Pros: This store is great more

This store has a large variety of wig and hair pieces, but their customer service, return and exchange policy leaves alot to be desired. As one of the other reviewers stated, they treat ALL blacks as criminals. I recently purchased a half wig and 2 days later discovered that I purchased the wrong style. I went back to exchange the wig for the correct one and they wouldn't let me. The wig was in the orginial package untouched and upon inspection they would have noticed that I had not used it. If that's their policy fine, but there is no need to be rude about it and persecute EVERY black because of what a few customers may have done. They've hired spanish speaking employees that also have adapted their attitudes. I do not like nor appreciate how they treat the people who are making them wealthy. They will never see a red cent of my money any more. more

True, this beauty supply store is wonderful for a variety of wigs and hair pieces. However, they look at all black paying customers like we're suspects in a robbery. Black women I am telling you no matter how many times you spend your money, they are watching you carefully. Now, some black women do steal but the majority of us just want our wigs and hair products. Needless to say, I had an unfortunate incident in which I was totally vindicated, but I will never spend my money with them again! more

This store has a large variety of wigs and hair but, they leave a lot to be desired in their prices. they do not give discounts even if you buy the display wig. You may go there and find what you are looking for, but you WILL PAY TOO MUCH. more

Operated by Asians. They have a variety of products. Have to keep in mind that they are just selling it over the counter, they are not the stylist, therefore they do not know what works well for you individually. Ask the stylist ahead of time or if you can let the stylist come with you to help you with the right selection of hair. more

Went here to buy a wig after employees at JWig right down the street were just plain rude.
