I have eaten here on several occasions and must say that the food is excellent! Their plates are authentic and very tasty. The people who work there are wonderful and the atmosphere is very peaceful. I especially love their egg rolls, although the pad thai is also delicious. The price is reasonable and the food is definitely something I crave! more

My friend and I ate at the Ichi Ban in Avondale across from the Costco on 99th and 101. I was optimistic considering the good reviews I had read about the other locations, although I am not sure if it is the same "chain". I was given a used sushi menu with which to order from that had soy sauce and avocado stains and the previous order had been covered with "White-Out". I was so disgusted! I couldn't believe that they gave us a used menu to order our sushi with. I told the manager he may as well recycle the chopsticks too. If they are that concerned with money and the bottom line, reuse the napkins too. Our server was EXTREMELY rude and did not do a good job at all. We had to look around and call for her more than once for napkins, water refills, and an extra plate. Even then, she didn't provide me with a glass of water at all. How can a restaurant expect to function with one server and a huge Friday lunch crowd? Having worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I agree with cutting costs, however, this really affects customer service. One server and half the restaurant seated. Doesn't make sense to me. My friend's entree was also very cold and the chicken was over cooked. We waited for more than 20 minutes for our sushi order and watched as patrons who were seated after us enjoyed their sushi. Not a very good first experience and I know that we will not go back again. I should have driven the extra distance and eaten at Ah So like we had originally planned. While the sushi was decent the miso soup was watered down and served with raw button mushrooms that were sliced. No green onions or diced tofu, which is what is traditionally served in miso soup. Not worth the $50 I spent today. I hope that other patrons have a better experience than we did today. Though the restaraunt is small, well lit, not much for the intimate dining however, Very good Sushi, Good service, no waiting, friendly people and japenese preparing the fresh sushi!
