I live in Las Vegas and wanted to treat some friends from Europe to Valentino. We hade reserved for 4 people. We were early and decided to have a bottle of champagne outside on their tiny terrace. We order a bottle of Veuve Cliquot. The waitress had no class. She poured THE WHOLE BOTTLE one shot into 4 champagne glasses. Each glass was overflowing. Then she brought the bill without us having finished to drink or even asking for it. THEY APPLIED 18% SERVICE CHARGE, probably because they heard a language that wasn't English. The law says that you are supposed to PRINT on the menu/wine list that you are applying service charge. No such thing on their wine list or menu. When I complained to their obnoxious ""manager"", he said that it was house policy to do that on every bottle of wine sold. So be aware if you go there. Then he walked away. Not only we cancelled the reservation on the spot but I will never go back and I will do my best to spread the word. We then went upstairs to Postrio were we spent $400+ and had a blast. Business must be booming at Valentino. The do not care about $400 and certainly about customers.\r \r more

Great place for authentic Italian cuisine 7/17/2009

My fiancé and I went to Valentino for our two year anniversary and it was definitely the best place for a romantic and unforgettable food and wine experience. I had an impeccable dining experience with exquisite and artistic presentation in an opulent setting. The food was delicious! Valentino's had an extensive wine list and service was impeccable. For our appetizer, we had the Bruschetta and Carpaccio alla Cipriani. They were both fantastic! For our entrées we had the Potato Gnocchi with meat sauce which was by far the best thing I have ever had! My fiancé ordered the Cappellacci with Spinach and Ricotta and he loved it so much that he ate everything on his plate. With every course we became more impressed with the food, both in taste and presentation. I would definitely recommend. Pros: Best Italian food in town! more

Absolutely Perfect! 12/11/2008

I dined here this past Monday with my boyfriend, best friend and her husband. We were celebrating completing our first marathon, so everyone was in the mood to splurge a bit. We started with a round of champagne and followed with a recommended bottle of pinot noir (which was one of the best bottles I've ever had). We ordered appetizers (house salad with greens, purple heirloom tomatoes and goat cheese, a caprese salad, and.. well, I don't remember the 3rd appetizer), which came out promptly, and everything tasted wonderfully fresh. \r \r For the main entree, I had the tri-color gnocchi with a cream demi-glace - they were accommodating to sub asparagus for the mushrooms (I don't like fungi), which created a wonderful texture between the doughy pasta and the crisp asparagus. There was also a pumpkin ravioli, which was buttery and just slightly sweet. Lamb tenderloin, perfectly cooked and served with garlic mashed potatoes, and a spicy prawn dish in a tomato sauce. Everything was perfectly salted, each dish was a decent portion without being too overwhelming if paired with a salad, and I could've easily ordered any one of those and been perfectly happy.\r \r Dessert was also great - the platings were so pretty, I actually took pictures! Tiramisu encased in a delicate chocolate shell, a warm chocolate torte served with bourbon sorbet, and a pecan crunch cake with a warm buttery sauce.\r \r I think on top of the excellent meal, the service and timing were perfect. We were never rushed between courses, but allowed to linger and enjoy every moment of the meal - there was enough time between our plates that everything could digest a bit and we could appreciate all of the flavors without feeling overwhelmed.\r \r A must try at the Venetian! Pros: Amazing food, impeccible service, nice escape from the casino floor more

Overpriced, below-par taste, ended up sick! 3/10/2008

I'll start off by saying that the service was wonderful in the restaurant, and that it was absolutely beautiful inside. But then, the cocktails were overpriced. They were about 50% more expensive than other cocktails in Vegas, don't taste as good, and won't even get you a buzz. The food was not that great either -- and, it has the potential to make you violently ill! My friend spent the rest of the night after eating there extremely sick with a horrible upset stomach, and I spent the whole next day hugging my toilet, and I hadn't even been drinking; completely ruined my Vegas trip because I was too sick to do anything else for the rest of my vacation. I had much better meals for the same price elsewhere. UGH! Pros: service, atomosphere Cons: food more

Superb food and dining! 1/23/2008

Cafe Giorgio located at Mandalay Place inside the Mandalay Bay is a great spot for lunch and dinner. Went there for lunch with friends and shared the Antipasto Combo appetizer, which included a nice sampling of prosciutto, olives, and tomato bruschetta with basil. Loved the pasta rigatoni with fresh mozzarella on top. The atmosphere is light and breezy and is a great place for people watching as it is located right by all of the shops. more

Great Overall Experience 1/17/2008

I had the opportunity to dine at Valentino during my trip to Las Vegas last weekend, and I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with my experience. The hostess ushered in my boyfriend and me to the back dining room right away, and our maitre'd for the night was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. I ordered the King crab for an appetizer, and the texture of the meat simply whet my appetite for more. For my main entree, I tried the shellfish medley with vegetables, and I can't have been more pleased with my choice! The spices the chef used were subtle but really blended everything together. The sommelier also gave great recommendations for wine pairings. The service was very attentive throughout our meal, and the back dining room is very quiet and elegant. My boyfriend and I can't wait to visit Valentino again on our next trip! Pros: Attentive Service, Extensive Wine List, Delicious Meal Choices more

Don't Waste Your Time or Money!!! 11/19/2007

I've dined at the Santa Monica location and just loved it! But my experience at the Las Vegas location was just disappointing. The service was good but the food was terrible. I had the tasting menu and it was just not prepared to my expectations. The food was comparable to the olive garden at 6 times the price!!! Don't recommend it. Pros: Good Service, Nice Ambiance Cons: Expensive, quality of food more

Best Traditional Italian Food Anywhere 11/15/2007

My wife and I decided upon Valentinos for our 20th anniversary dinner and can't imagine that there is better fine dining in Vegas. \r \r The food was tremendous and we have never experienced better service. The price was very reasonable for the 7 course dinner we received.\r \r I spoke with Carlo the manager and expressed to him what an ""experience"" we had. \r \r Do not hesitate to dine at Valentinos and if you have any concerns at all... ask for Carlo.\r Pros: Service Food more

Poor food, great bakery 4/3/2007

I dined at Tintoretto and was resolutely disappointed with the food quality. I had a chicken caesar salad, and the chicken strips were tiny and hard as a rock, and browning - as if they had been laying out. I couldn't even eat it, it was disgusting! The ambience was nice, with European-esque ""sidewalk seating"" in the Venetian. The bakery is unbelievable - they have every pastry you could imagine, all delicious, and a huge selection of coffee and hot chocolate-type drinks. I got an apricot-filled pastry and a palmiere, both fantastic, and my friends got chocolate-dipped cookies and white-chocolate-covered strawberries decorated to look like a tuxedo. The restaurant is garbage but the bakery is upscale and heavenly. Pros: ambience, amazing bakery Cons: food quality, overpriced, long wait to be seated more

Amazing wine list and excellent service 10/4/2006

We were impressed from the moment we walked in. We had at least 5 different people waiting on us and the matre'de answered all of our questions about the largest wine list I've ever seen in a restaurant. The food was outstanding, the wine recommendation complimentary and the service was exquisite. The experience was well worth the bill. Pros: wine & service Cons: pricey but worth it more

Don't bother 5/27/2006

My husband treated me to a weekend at the Venetian to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Valentino's was a big disappointment. We had reservations but were rushed in and seated at a table in a very high traffic area. We were given attitude because we didn't order wine, and to top it all off the food was sub-par. My husband had the lobster cannelloni (nothing special) and I had the risotto which was gluey. Don't waste your money on this over-hyped restaurant. There are far to many restaurants in Vegas to settle for Valentino's below average food/service. Cons: service, food, price more

Disappointing for the price 11/15/2004

My wife and I were in town for a conference and decided to have dinner at Valentino on a Monday night. Perhaps it was the night, but the restaurant did not impress. The service was very rushed (exactly 4 minutes elapsed between our appetizer and the main course!) and the food was not of high quality. I had the cod (usually a reliably tasty fish) and it was tasteless and bland. Even being smothered in butter and garlic could not save it. The waiter was well-informed, but he was just going through the motions. I got the distinct impression that he would much rather be somewhere else. The wine list is impressive. But since my wife does not drink, and I am not willing to down even a half-bottle by myself, I was relegated to the by-the-glass list which is just average. Pros: Huge wine list, Not crowded Cons: , Fish was not fresh more

Mr Dorrian 1/25/2004

I found Valentino's to be one of the very finest Italian restaurants I have ever been in in my life. The food is excellent and the service impecable. I was surprised at the quality of food for the price. I would highly reccomend this restaurant to anyone who visits Vegas. Pros: food, service, pricing more

Fantastic! 2/18/2003

From the moment we sat down for our Valentine's Say dinner we were totally impressed! We all had a great meal, excellent service and a good time. The waitstaff was attentive to everything for us, even made some great wine suggestions. It was a bit pricey but for that special evening when you want everything to go prefect it was completely worth every penny! If you have never had Buffalo, try it here...melted like butter! more

Ba-ro-co-co trip to venezia 12/19/2002

Excellent food ""inside"" the dining room with some traditional Puck favorites and new dishes by David Robins and John Legrone. Lighter fare in the ""outside"" cafe. Decor over the top - as my mom used to say ""very red and very fancy"". A lot of fun and great food. Pros: Comfortable, Stimulating, Romantic Cons: Frenetic, Dark more

Doesn't Live Up to It's Reputation 12/2/2002

I chose this restaurant based on the reputation of the one in LA. I was greatly disappointed. The meal was uneven and the service started out great, but trailed off at the end. My friend's fish that was supposed to sauteed was actually fried. It ruined the flavor. Our spinach side dish was dripping with olive oil so badly that it needed to be wrung out. The scallops were overcooked. However, the beef ravioli in cheese fondue sauce with truffle shavings was a hit. Of course the wine was amazing, and the ambience delightful. Still I would never go back because there are many other restaurants in Vegas with great wine lists, incredible atmospheres and better food. Pros: great wine list, atmosphere Cons: uneven food/service, not worth the price more

Wonderful 8/7/2002

You have th option of eating at their cafe or the main dining room. The cafe opens up to St. Mark's Square while the dining room is much more cozy and romantic. The deep red romatic colors along with the exceptional food sweep you away. The wine list is great!! Pros: ambiance, service, food Cons: price more
