The best used book store in the area for students 10/31/2005

If you're a student this is where you need to be. Tin Can has a huge selection of textbooks for both local colleges at fantastic prices. They also have a wonderful selection of used books both old and new. You'll always find something in their two story funhouse of books. Plan to spend some serious time here browsing and reading. Don't forget at the end of the semester, they'll buy your used texts! PROS: great prices, huge selection of books CONS: hard to find parking, textbooks go fast! more

if you're a student this is your store 9/22/2005

This used bookstore is fantastic in terms of selection, prices and staff but the real gem is their used textbook area. If you're a student at one of the two colleges in the area this should be your first stop. You'll save a fortune buying used! They also have a wonderful selection of local interest books and books by local authors. PROS: great selection and prices, a used textbook area CONS: can be hard to find parking more

They pay you less so they can charge you more! 8/26/2005

Today there is no reason that you should sell your books to Tincan Mailman, you'll make 5 times the amount selling your books on half.com or some other book seller. Plus, unless you really need it right now, you should use a place like half.com or just buy new for the prices that they charge at tincan mailman. Which sucks, because I really like to say Tincan Mailman, it's fun to say. more

  • Will Mauck was the founder of the Tin Can Mailman. Will spent his formative years as a Peace Corp volunteer in Tonga and fell in love with South Pacific culture. He named his bookstore after one of the Islands of Tonga, the remote island of Niua Fo'ou, or Tin Can Mail Island.
