Three Rivers Family Hospice

It has been just over 6 months since my dad passed on Three Rivers Hospice and although it was one of the most difficult times in my family's life, Three Rivers made it also a wonderful experience - if that makes any sense. These people are absolute angels. My nurse and aid were always a phone call away if they weren't at our house caring for dad and giving us their shoulder to lean on. When I didn't know what agencies did what, their social worker helped me every step of the way. Dad felt very comfortable and cared for which made all of us all happy and relieved. If I ever called their office, they couldn't have been nicer and helpful. I called the office in the middle of the night when it was getting close to the end and their answering service got the nurse who called me right away. She calmed me down and reassured us. She said she'd come out to the house but I felt better and she didn't need to. Dad's nurse and aid even came to the funeral home! I didn't expect that and was greatly touched. Since dad passed I get support letters from their bereavement office and the girl calls and chats with me and my sister whenever we need it. They have a support group that meets once a month and they do a lot of activities but I'm not ready for that yet. We did go to the memorial service and it was beautiful. The only thing negative I could really say is that I wish I had brought Three Rivers Hospice in sooner. I could not have gotten better care for my loved one any where else. Everyone was so caring and loving. They took care of our needs and went out of their way to help us in our time of need. Their bereavement followed me this past year as I grieved. They offered many workshops on coping and some that were just a fun time to get together with other people that knew what you were going through. They treated me with such love that I am now giving back to them. I have become a volunteer for them. more

I am experiencing difficulties with this hospice. I have order meds that were forgotten and I had to reorder. Now they are saying that they will not cover medications that were on the final list from my mother's hospital stay. Also, the manager has been rude to me almost every time I talk to her. I am looking for another hospice provider. Pros: Some of the nurses are good. Cons: The manager is rude and information provided poor. more

This hospice took care of my father for 6 months. During those months, we were constantly on the phone with the hospice because of missed appointments, mix-ups in prescriptions, non-delivery of needed medications, rude and offensive home health aides, poor customer service. Generally, if I had my father still alive today and he needed hospice care, I would not select this facility. This facility was selected by his primary care physician and wasn't the choice of the family. Often, when we mentioned who we have as a home hospice caregiver, the reply was a look of surprise and the comment: ""Oh, them!"". Upon questioning a few people and physicians in the area, this hospice is NOT a favored choice. They suggested palliative care or switching facilities. It was too late to switch facilities and dad passed away shortly before Christmas 2005. Pros: close proximity, direct medicare bill, nice personnel Cons: poor communications, minimal care possible, lack of cooperation more
