DON'T SHOP HERE - Save yourself the aggravation 10/7/2009

I will never shop here again...staff was extremely discourteous. I had the temerity to ask that a purchase be wrapped in a manner similar to the way they had done it previously and the woman purporting to be the manager opened up a can of rude that was breathtaking. Save your money and self-respect...shop elsewhere. (given the number of poor ratings they've rec'd on Yelp.com, poor customer service appears to be their hallmark) more

My sister used this company for her wedding invitations. She went to many companies but she wanted something very customized and finally felt comfortable with the people of The Written Word after visiting their store. Everything turned out perfectly. They really listened to what she wanted. If you want a perfect job done please give them a shot. more

Good for Wedding Invites, Etc 8/15/2005

If you're looking for a place to pick up decent stationery or look at a selection of wedding invitations in downtown DC, be sure to check out The Written Word. The store has a great selection of papers, invitations, gift cards, birthday cards, wrapping paper, and whatever else you might need along those lines. The only drawback is that it's a little pricey. But for all I know all of those kinds of stores are pricey. more

Expensive but nice 8/15/2005

This stationary store (bet you could guess that from the name!) has lots of beautiful cards, envelopes, paper, things like sealing wax and so forth. But these items are also very pricey. So this is the place to go when you need something really special. They also make wedding invitations too and their samples are gorgeous, but again, you will pay through the nose for the quality. A good place to look when you're shopping for someone special. more

Unique Cards 8/15/2005

In an attempt to avoid the same old drugstore card, I ventured into The Written Word and was pleasantly surprised by a wide selection of unique cards from artists around the world. Also, while I've never used their stationary and customized-card services, they offer them as well. Prices are comparable to your typical card store and although the selection is much more limited, I've always been able to find something that I've liked and that I'd never be able to find elsewhere. more
