This museum is comprised of mansion, marine and natural history museum, planetarium and park. The planetarium is comprised of a 60 foot theater and a projector that can display over 11,000 stars. During the summer, there are laser light shows to music. The museum has displays of wildlife and prehistoric animals. The 24 room mansion is decorated to the period of time the Vanderbilt family lived there. more

Fun Museum 8/15/2005

The Vanderbilt is well known throughout the tristate area, and it is a lot of fun. If you visit you learn something new every single time. I Definitly recommend checking it out and learning about everything it has to offer. Never hurts to visit a museum! They have very interesting exibits. It can tend to be extremly crowded, and sometimes it feels as though its not worth it. Plan the date accordingly. more

The Vanderbuilt Museum 7/23/2005

The vanderbuilt museum has a planetarium with a 60 foot sky theatre and can show over 1100 stars at any given moment. It is located on the famous Vanderbuilt Homstead and provides visitors with information about the famous nighttime sky . The Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum - a unique combination of mansion, marine and natural history museum, planetarium and park - is dedicated to the education and enjoyment of learning. This is a nice place to make a day trip to! more
