Strolled into the Newbury shop with my sister and sister-in-law today who have been there before. I was visiting from out of town. I wanted a pair of Toms. They were having a buy-one-get-second-pair-1/2-off sale. My sister picked out a pair of sandals and I a pair of Toms and she offered to treat me for the deal. Once we were rung up, the sandals were twice as much as she thought they were labeled, so changed her mind and asked for a refund. This was eventually granted, but the owner then refused to let me buy my two pair of Toms afterward. He said, ""She changed her mind, I change my mind."" He told me to come back later and maybe he would sell them to me. Ha! I left, of course. And so did my sister-in-law, after she put back the boots she was about to purchase. I felt bad for the sales staff. They seemed terrified working there. Is this the mafia or what? A 1/2 hour later, a pair of comfy chocolate Toms were sold to me with a smile at Newbury Comics, for $6 cheaper. :)
