Being from New York it takes a lot to impress me. That being said, the rooftop bar at Setai is one of the most beautiful bars I've ever seen. The bar is actually inside the hote...

Best service and cuisine on South Beach 5/29/2007

Went there last night for dinner and had one of the best meals in years! The service was very attentive and professional. All of the servers recommendations were great and the wine stewards recommended a great Italian red that matched the food perfectly. I can't remember the last time I've had such impeccable service in a fine dining restaurant. The atmosphere was very relaxing and we can' t wait to bring our friends back! more

Tremendous Food, Extremely Expensive 1/21/2006

The only ding on The Restaurant in the Hotel Setai is the price. I went with my friends Warren and Ilana. The restaurant was still pretty empty when we arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday night - it was packed when we left at 9:30. The decor is funky and contemporary. The menu is extensive and complex (pacific fusion). You can't help but notice the prices ($15 for "Nan", $50 for a "White Pizza with Truffles"). The wine list is extensive and the somellier was particularly focused on selling us very expensive wines by the glass (we passed). The food was tremendous. Indian, chinese, and thai fusion, all beautifully prepared, fresh, and delicious. At some point we forgot that we were about to massively overpay for the meal as we settled in to an endless taste treat. Every single dish was good. We were stuffed when the dessert menu arrived so we didn't even bother. We figured the damage was done and we were ready for it. $385 for three people with minimal alcohol (one glass of wine for Warren; Evian for me and Ilana). We didn't flinch, paid up, and left very happy. more

Editorial
  • In Short
Gourmet dishes and tranquil atmosphere are the specialties of this sophisticated restaurant in one of the area's priciest hotels. Cooking becomes art in the wood-and-stone dining room's exhibition kitchen. Well-heeled locals are often found outdoors at the sunken tables nestled among reflection pools. The trans-ethnic cuisine has distinct Indian, Pan-Asian, and Australian dishes ranging from Tasmanian ocean trout and Wagyu beef to tandoor-roasted prawns. The extensive wine list offers more than 450 labels.
