Sunday champagne brunch 9/1/2005

This is a great place to take someone you want to impress to a nice brunch. The restaurant has a beautiful location, right on the beach, letting everyone have a beautiful view, no matter where they are seated. The place is beautifully decorated, and the display of brunch items is extremely exquisite. The atmosphere is nice as well. The atmosphere is great for people to have a good time with their group, whether it is a group of two or more. The staff is extremely friendly and not at all stingy about making sure your champagne, orange juice, water glass and coffee cup are never empty. The food is pretty good and considering the prices of dishes at the Marine Room for lunch and dinner, the price is definitely a bargain. The restaurant boasts a large variety of baked goods, breakfast items, lunch items, an omelet stand, and desserts. The display is absolutely beautiful. more

Marine room dining 8/12/2005

My boyfriend took me to the Marine Room for our one year anniversary. It was certainly an evening to remember! The restaurant interior is classy and formal. The building sits on the beach, and large walls of windows look out onto the crashing waves. The occasional scuba divers begin their evening dives right outside. The food is also great! Mmmm.. lobster bisque. more

Elegant Dining on the Surf

Editorial
  • The Scene
Perched out beyond the sand line on La Jolla Shores, waves often splash against the floor-to-ceiling dining room windows, which are the only thing separating you from the ocean at this classy, coastal establishment. It's won nearly ever local and culinary award in the book--from service to best chef--and it's all for good reason. This quiet, romantic destination defines San Diego's fine dining scene.

    The Food
Nearly every dish that lands on the table is overwhelming, considering the view in the backdrop, but a few standout starters include roasted forest mushrooms with 20-year-old Ambroshante sherry, the Maine lobster bisque and the classic Caesar salad prepared fresh for two tableside. For the main course, fennel-butter basted lobster tail melts away and fresh, flavorful fishes like Alaskan halibut or macadamia-coated organic salmon will not disappoint the most discerning seafood connoisseur.
