First of all I would like to say, "I never write reviews" but the MGM Grand deserves this one. I visit Vegas about 4 times a year. And I have stayed just about everywhere out there. I chose the MGM this time because I wanted to see David Copperfield's show. The Show was Awesome, I highly recommend it. The hotel,... (Not so much). First I stayed in a sky loft with a 2 bedroom suit, for 2 nights. The purpose for my visit was a surprise Birthday party for my friend who lives in Vegas'. The plan was to surprise him at his home and then go back to my suite to party. I paid for the room a month in advance and told them I wanted one of the rooms with a pool table. They would not lock me in for the room a month out, so I said ok at that time. But I called at 8 am the day I was to arrive to try and confirm a room with a pool table again but was told I couldn't. I told them I was taking the last flight out of Dallas and that my limo from the airport wouldn't get me to the hotel till about midnig more

almost too big.. 1/28/2013

I really have no problems with MGM except that it is SO expansive. I totally get the Vegas thing and how each hotel/casino is supposed to be its own city, but MGM may as well have its own zip code. It is so far away from the rest of the strip and even more so depending on where you are staying in the hotel. I have stayed in the towers and the hotel part, both times sharing a room with my friends. The rooms are nice and spacious and the beds are comfortable. It's really just the location that gets me every time we stay there. Mostly because we never end up going out at the MGM clubs which makes a whole other to do. Their beach club pool party looked pretty fun though! Thank goodness for the cabs, right? more

Love this hotel. 10/4/2012

I love this hotel. Right when you walk into the lobby, you're swept with the feeling for grandeur and romance. There's gold everywhere (I think i'm just particular to gold), and the majestic lion right in the middle is a nice touch. Caesar's is cool too, but I like that this is a more original lobby and idea, and not based off something else. The rooms are a bit small, but since the renovation, everything looks much nicer and is more comfortable, even though it IS a bit dim in there. The location is also prime, right next to all the shops more

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/12/2012

First time I ate there with my wife and it was definitely one of the best dining experiences we’ve had… \r Then a couple of months later I took the wife and my daughter - the experience was much lower. I made the mistake of not reserving a table in advance and taking a seat at the front – ambiance sucked to put it mildly. But I would have been fine had my steak been cooked the way I requested and not still moving. I realize chefs believe rare is the best but I didn’t order rare… the first time I ate the steak was perfect the way I ordered the second time it was rare and even after “more flame” it was still rare.\r more

Went there with my girl for a weekend, the place is amazing! the casino is so clean and nice, and you get fast service where ever you are. We upgraded our room for a really cheap price and got the VIP suite! that was awesommmmmeeeee :) \r 2 floors, one jacuzzi inside one outside on the deck.\r Fun of a lifetime! more

Fun! 7/11/2010

I miss the "OZ" theme from back in the day and the giant lion on the outside! This hotel is a great place to stay, rooms are clean and the view is good! The pools are fun and entertaining. more

Famous For the Lion 7/5/2009

They have one of the world's biggest casino, biggest hotel, and used to have one of the biggest theme parks. I used to love going here for the theme park that had a lot of fun things to do. They shut it down though. Other than that, it was remodeled several years back so that you could no longer walk through the lion's mouth (catering to the Chinese who were superstitious). more

Love the oysters here 5/9/2009

I love oysters but am afraid to order them in most places because they have to be super fresh. There is only one place I trust in San Diego (Oceanaire)- ( I usually stick to places like Seattle & New York that have plenty of options)\r \r But thank goodness for SeaBlue where the oysters are flown in daily and are DELICIOUS.\r \r The service is good too ! more

Worth It 2/26/2009

My boyfriend and I ate here for his birthday last year in August. We were staying at the MGM and were early for our reservation. Within a few minutes we were sat at a table. The server was very polite and friendly. We ordered the summer tasting tasting menu that changes every season and every course as served family style. For the first course we had grilled quail, roasted red peppers, and a cucumber salad. All were simple and tasty. For the main we had grilled filet, roasted chicken, and diver scallops plus sides. We ordered the steak rare and it came out perfect. The steak came out sliced, it was seasoned well, and cut like butter. The roasted chicken was delicious and moist; the scallops were cooked well. As sides we had the potato puree, sauteed corn, and roasted mushrooms; all of which were excellent. The dessert was chef's choice. We had bread pudding and a berry crisp with vanilla ice cream. There was definitely a lot of food and the tasting menu was only $65 per person (and only $30 more per person for wine pairings for each course). The whole experience was pleasant. The service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and knowledgable. I have definitely recommended this place to friends and family. Pros: Quality food more

Perfection 2/16/2009

My husband and I ate here on our wedding night (2/29/08). We didn't read any reviews before going here. In fact, we had never heard of the place before. We were staying at the MGM and wanted steaks, so we headed here. We didn't have reservations but were lucky enough to have been seated within 10 minutes of arriving. The atmosphere was very nice... dim lighting, romantic music softly playing in background, and somewhat private booths. We shared the porterhouse steak (one of our favorite cuts), friscee salad, and fingerling potatoes. The salad was served with large bits of bacon and warm dressing and tasted amazing. The steak comes to the table on a single plate for sharing as well as the potatoes. To our surprise, the steak was already sliced and put back together like a puzzle. It was seasoned just right and was unbelievably juicy. The potatoes were sooo good. I usually add salt and pepper to potatoes, but these were so good I didn't want to mess them up with over salting. Interesting enough, there was no salt or pepper on the table or any other table for that matter! They really know how to season food at this place. The bearnaise sauce was the best I've ever had. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. It was the perfect compliment to the meal. By the end of the meal we were so full we didn't have room for dessert. Instead we relaxed at the table with our drinks for a bit while we waited for the bill. The total bill, including drinks came to under $200. It was an incredible meal, the perfect atmosphere, and great service. My husband and I plan to visit many other Vegas steakhouses in the future but this steakhouse will be very hard to top. Pros: Very well seasoned entrees Cons: Dress code not enforced more

sweet 1/5/2009

The food is so tasty that you don't want to stop eating. Everytime you take abite you want more and don't want it to end. I like going on week days less crowed unless your into that sort of thing. The prices are high but they are worth it .MGM you got this one right again... more

Really good 9/3/2008

There are a lot of mouthwatering choices. Shared tapas style appetizers and oysters, then shared a salad. We also had drinks from the bar. The atmosphere was nice, and we would eat here again. more

Loved it! 7/9/2008

I don't know what the people below with bad reviews are talking about! The food here was amazing. Everything from the foie gras to the scallops to the kobe was impeccable! I would eat here every night if I could afford it... absolutely delicious! Pros: Food was delicious! Cons: High price more

Routine 7/2/2008

I have eaten many times at MGM's Grand Buffet, their breakfast is great!!!!!!!!!!! However, for lunch and dinner they serve the same thing over and over and over without change. That's a problem, because many people would like variety on a daily basis for lunch and dinner. Pros: Great Breakfast Cons: Same thing daily for lunch and dinner more

Right in line with MGM's overall standards. 6/14/2008

One of the better resort buffets on the strip. With the competition fierce for the $20+ that most of the top buffets charge on the strip, MGM's is still one of the best. They have an entire aisle dedicated to seafoods and shellfish. We've been there repeatedly over the past few years. Highly recommendable. Pros: Spacious, short wait to get seated. Variety of offerings. Cons: Same as most buffets, having to witness the intense grazing methods of human herefords @ buffets. more
