This is the place that large lighting stores send their clients to for repairs because these gentlemen know what they are doing. Andy is an artesian and repaired my "difficult" chandelier with skill, patience and excellence. He was concerned about the cost of parts and made sure I could get them at a good price. I love this place and highly recommend it. more

Pleased 4/13/2012

Last week was the first time I went into the Lamp Shop because I had to get a repair done. I had heard many good things about this store from people I know, so I decided to give the place a try. The employees there were all kind and respectful and my lamp came out looking better than ever! I am definitely going to be coming back for future business. For sure! I am just dismayed at some of the comments made about this shop and its employees. Just because a person had a less-than-satisfactory experience there, doesn't mean they should be trashing the place or people out of sheer spite... more

I grew up in Summit and accompanied my mother to The Lamp Shop when I was quite young. I have been a customer for twenty years.Peter, the owner and his small staff are real Pro's. This is the kind of speciality business that has been dying with the retirement of the owners for decades in New Jersey. The Lamp Shop are experts at refurbrishing lamps, door knobs, door hinges and window locks (they send out to plate with brass, nickel etcetera), My family has lived in the Summit area since the 1930's. So far so Good 2/7/2010

I have lived in the area for 3 years but I never ventured in. I finally went in yesterday and was not very impressed at first. I thought for sure they could not help me. After several customers finished there business I was greeted and treated quite well. In fact I got a whole history on crystal and its geographic origins. I walked out with a borrowed catalog and feel pretty confident that the price I was given is more than fair. We went to another "chain" location and immediately felt like the people we were talking to were not very educated with regard to lighting. I think we will go with the folks at the Lamp Shop. more

100% Satisfied Customer for 20 years 8/23/2009

I'm prompted to write a review only because of what someone wrote here (and it sure sounds like one person rather than two...). I have been in this store probably 100 times in the past 20 years and never once have I witnessed anything but respectful, friendly and helpful service. This business does things that I can't find done anywhere else within the tri-state area, and they do it excellently every time. It's very disappointing to see a good business get trashed by an anonymous person with whatever agenda going on, a big problem with the internet... more

Excellent Place 8/4/2009

This is an excellent place for repair and restoration of lamps. I can confidently say that The Lamp Shop is one of the last places that truly knows what their doing. Peter was very helpful and had my lamp looking new again in a short amount of time. I recommend this place to all my friends and family. Please don't listen to these other two bad reviews, I know Peter well enough that he would never do this in front of a customer more

oh my GOD!!! 10/31/2008

I was in the store last week and had the same experience. This guy from the back of the room was yelling at someone while I was buying something. I will not go back. There is enough stress in this world... who needs to get more of it from a lowsy old lamp guy. Extremely unprofessional and bordering abusive behavior. BEWARE!!! more

The WORST!!! 10/31/2008

Plan on getting nothing but arrogance and non-customer centric behavior out this shop! Peter and his band of nasty electricians are the worst group I have ever seen. I have been holding off writing a review, but after what I saw today in thier shop, I had to. Peter actaully made a young woman cry in the store. I was listening to the conversation as he started to yell and scream at her in the store. This seemed like a nice enough young lady just looking for help installing a light fixture. Stay away !! more

The Lamp Shop 10/5/2005

An exceptional place for lacquering brass lamps. I have been a customer for years because everything is exceptionally well done. A family business. True, it takes forever for them to complete the project, but it is definitely well worth the wait. They do an excellent business in lamp restoration as well. more
