good movie experience 3/25/2006

This is a great place to see a movie if you missed it when it came out in theaters. They often have movies that have just come out of the theaters, and it's nice to be able to catch them on a big screen even if you couldn't catch it in at the time it came out. Even better, at only $3 a movie no matter what time of day, it's cheaper than renting! I love the atmosphere and the fresh popcorn, as well. It's definitely a movie experience worth paying $3 for. more

Couldn't be better 8/17/2005

What could be better than a super cheap movie in a restored movie theatre that used to be a stage theatre? The ambiance is great, the movies are so reasonable (around $3 for a second run movie) and the staff serves luke-warm popcorn! Honestly, this place is great. It's easily my favorite place to see movies in Charlottesville. more

Cheap with Fresh Popcorn 8/15/2005

Its a $3 dollar theater and to a great extent you get what you pay for. One high point, though, is that they make their own popcorn, freshly, each night. The upstairs theater is small, the downstairs a bit larger. The sound systems aren't brilliant and the screens are fairly small (though they compare favorably with, for instance, the Regal cinema's screens down the street). Overall, its worth $3 to see a movie in second run. more

Great price, second run theater 8/8/2005

The Jefferson is a great movie theater to catch second run movies before the reach DVD. All shows regardless of time are $3. The movie theater is really neat, it was at one time a place where they had plays. Now the balcony has been converted to its own theater so there are two movies shown at a time. The people who work there are kind of weird but they're all very nice, its just as clean as any other theater though a bit run down. I highly recommend it. more
