The Inn At Newtown

Newtown Inn used to be a fantastic restaurant. However, I went there for brunch a couple of years ago and the food was terrible. I chalked it up to a one-time experience. Until I made the dreadful mistake of going there for Thanksgiving. They were out of half the items on the menu, the green beans were completely raw, like someone had forgotten to cook them, the turkey was nowhere to be found - a couple of small chunks underneath the potatoes, and the salad was missing half its ingredients. It looked like a 10 year old had put the meal together. And they were not even busy which might have accounted for some level of inattention! Our server was also terrible - I had to keep flagging her down and asking for more water after the glass sat empty for a good 5-10 minutes and whenever we dared to complain about some aspect of the food we got a surly and defensive attitude. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs, or prepare to be disappointed! Too bad, it used to be good. more

The Inn at Newtown is where we go for "special occassion" dinners. The food is superb. They have a soup, that I almost alway order - it's a lobster and corn bisque that is simply amazing. The ambiance there is charming and comfortable. The wait-staff is excellent. There's limited parking right along Main Street and a large parking lot in the back. more

Located right along Main Street, the Inn at Newtown is one of my favorite restaurants. The owners also own the Cookhouse in New Milford and the Harvest in Brookfield. They have a great selection with steaks and seafood, but they also have lighter fares of sandwiches and salads. A great, kind staff, and wonderful food! You can spend a decent amount on your check here, but you can also find more afforable items on the menu if thats what you're looking for. more
