Prudent, competent, compassionate chiropractor 2/1/2010

I have been seeing Dr. Joyce McClure for seven or eight years. A friend of mine recommended her to me when I was experiencing tendonitis in my hip (my friend actually had 3 recommendations-- to narrow it down, I asked her to just give me the name of the most precise and prudent chiropractor she knew-- i.e., not a ""kook"" like those pseudo-chiropractors you see on programs like 60 Minutes that make you think twice about going to see a chiropractor-- and she recommended Dr. McClure based on my specifications). For my first appt, Dr. McClure addressed my tendonitis with some hot/cold treatments and a massage, measured my legs, performed a couple of adjustments, asked about my exercise and sitting habits (even down to whether I ever sat with anything in my back pocket), and then gave me an orthopedic thing to wear in my shoe, along with some advice on how to heal my hip and avoid future problems. She did not talk over me and she didn't talk down to me either. She was friendly, considerate, and genuinely interested in my well-being. After our appointment, she called me that night to see how things were going with my hip pain and to see if I had any other questions. She then proceeded to give me advice on selecting ergonomically appropriate workout equipment. Needless to say, she was so knowledgeable and professional during the first appointment that when my desk job started causing me neck and shoulder pain and auxiliary dizziness, I returned to see her and in just one session I already felt much better. Her adjustment style is gentle but firm. She is confident yet prudent, and I fully trust her expertise. She uses various treatments from hot/cold applications to orthopedics to exercises to massage (I've had 5 professional massages and hers was by far the most medically beneficial and enjoyable one I've had), along with myriad types of adjustments. A few years ago she also fixed my knee that was popping every time I took a step-- the adjustment she made seemed so benign that I almost couldn't believe it was going to be effective, but sure enough it was and the effects of her work have lasted this whole time. I could go on, but I think anyone who had the patience to read this far gets the gist: I would highly, highly recommend Dr. McClure's services to anyone needing chiropractic care. I just wish she could be my doctor for everything! Her office (""The Healing Arts Clinic"") also has some fabulous massage therapists and a friendly and competent staff to boot! Pros: Very scientifically minded Cons: Mainly just street parking available more
